Question:
alright so im headed back up north for the holidays and i need to purchase a few new sweaters becuase i had a catastrophic moth incident last year.
where can i get some sweaters relatively cheap that are good quality?
i was looking for merino wool or maybe cashmere.
thanks.
is target a viable option?
any ideas are welcome.
Answer:
I'd recommend the Target sweaters. I got one a couple weeks ago, and it's a very nice quality for the price.
Stay away from the Old Navy ones. I also got one of those around the same time, and it's stretched out like crazy after only a couple wears.
Answer:
Two words: J Crew
Look at the sweaters currently on sale. Their merinos are very good; cashmere are so-so. Stick to merino IMO
Answer:
I think their merino v-necks just went on sale at $40, or at least at my local store. I recommend going down a size on them this year as they're more loose than last year's version.
Answer:
$39.99 and "SHHH" code at checkout gives an extra 20% off if total > $175
Answer:
uniqlo cashmere vnecks i think might still be on sale $75 each... many colors call em up
Answer:
www.bananarepublic.com and
www.jcrew.com are probably best for what you're looking.
Answer:
At least in New York, sales items are currently an extra 25% off. $30 for these sweaters is a bargain. They are not terribly warm, but they are good for layering.
I think cheap cashmere is rarely a bargain. It pills quickly and then just looks awful.
Answer:
Yeah, my wife, a big JCrew fan, has always worn size 0. Well, that doesn't fit anymore, and she can't size down. :plain: Needless to say, she's on a JCrew strike.
Answer:
Cheap sweaters are never a good value.
Answer:
That's mostly true, but for sweaters there is no real middle ground - it's either the Made in China stuff, or the good pricey stuff. However, if you look at only the Chinese made sweater group, J.Crew's are a value.
Answer:
either way cheap sweaters are never good for my wide shoulders...
sizing down 1 makes the armpit/shoulder area way too tight... but atleast it looks better
Answer:
BR is having a deal from Dec 6-12 where if you bring in an old sweater in good condition they'll donate it to Goodwill and give you 30% off a new one.
Answer:
I bought a hand knit cardigan from Band of Outsiders from Barney's New York at 40 percent off... but when I got home, it was made in China. I want to return it:-(
Answer:
I'm not a BR customer, but I always like those types of deals. Barney's does something similar with denim every now and then.
