Rrl

Question:
I know there are some RRL fans around here, but there's no central place to discuss the line.
I'm currently wearing the new slim-fit jeans, which have an incredible fit: a mid-rise (four button) that certainly doesn't feel high, and a rather democratic straight leg (slightly more relaxed than an APC NS). The jeans are redline selvedge and rinsed, with a bright, almost royal blue color. Gorgeous yellow stitching throughout and they're already picking up fades (wallet) after the first handful of wears, which is good and bad.
The jeans get a lot of love here but the rest of the line is also really nice. I tried on the oxford, reasonably priced at $125 and it is sliim. Slimmest medium I've worn in a while, hitting right below the belt with a small collar. There are nice thermals and t-shirts and the accessories (specifically the bags) are super cool. I think covering yourself in RRL would look overtly cowboy-ish, but it's good for a few pieces here and there.

I'm trying to decide between the APC Resuces or a pair of RRL's
Anyone have experience with both?
Answer:
The jeans available today in stores are one-wash or pre-distressed.
APC Rescues are a bit fuller than the cuts that RRL has; the RRL slimfit, for example, is closer to the APCNS. There's a slimboot as well but I can't comment on this generation's fit. In the past the cut has been slimmer than the slimfit, lower rise, and a barely-noticeable flare at the hem.
If your body is a bit bigger in the thighs/seat or you simply prefer more relaxed jeans, stick with APC. If your body is average/slim then I highly recommend you pick up or at least try on the RRL slimfit. Construction, details, denim, etc. is far better than APC in my opinion. If you take a look at the WAYWN thread I posted a pic of my year-old slimfits. They're easily one of the best pairs of jeans I've owned.

Here are a some pics of me wearing the slim fits. They have been broken in and stretched since then, but as you can see they are very slim.

RRL are also making a looser stright fit than that. I tried on the same jeans that overdog is wearing at the Ralph Lauren store in NYC and those were raw, not rinsed, in my estimation. And they were far more New Standard-ish.
The jeans I bought were from Bergdorf, in a cut that I hadn't seen elsewhere, and it is more of a regular "straight fit." They are slightly slimmer than my RB11's at the hem, but far more relaxed than that slim fit. It's also not raw, but definitely rinsed, with a richer blue color as opposed to the occasional steel-like color of raw denim.
I think they are making a bootcut as well, so that means there are three cuts in the new RRL line: slim, straight and boot.
