disappointed in OAK

Question:
after waiting over a month for my oak buffalo check shirt (the one featured in mensstyle.com)...it finally arrived, and the fit unfortunately, sucks.
i wonder if all oak shirts fit like this, which would be a shame because I think they have nice shirts and the quality of this one is pretty decent.
anyone have experience w/ other oak shirts?
Answer:
These guys are retailers with one location or is it two?, either way they're small potatoes in the fashion world. Their expertise is not in the design and production of garments and in most cases it shows.
My inclination is they started their inhouse brand to try and make better margins on product, from factory to retail they can double their profits. Taking short cuts, using sub par contractors and not having the skill set of a design house results in what you just purchased.
Opening Ceremony is one of the few store brands that exceeds my expectations, though their fabrications are mediocre. I still think NDG is weak after seeing their line at Opening Ceremony last week and overpriced to the point of rape!.
P.S. The fact you waited a month for the shirt makes we wonder if their made to order out of a Bushwick sewinf facility.
Answer:
I saw NDG stuff in person for the first time at Blackbird a few weeks ago. I aggree with you that it is way overpriced. Still, I would wear almost every piece they make.
Answer:
Yeah, I'll agree with this. With a few exceptions, most of the Nom de Guerre pieces I've seen I like, though I look at the prices and feel a little violated. I will buy the stuff with a bit of a discount, however (Brigade and Jake have both seen some of my money in this respect.) Some pieces that get rave reviews, the deck hoodie, for example, I don't see the fuss about. Actually, I think that that particular piece is a little unbalanced, t he really chunky hardware not really meshing well with the lighter weight body.
Of the NYC retail stores that also have significant house brands, I really do like Bblessing hoodies. However, Daniel Jackson has been with Surface to Air a while (though, iirc, he only does their jewelry), so I guess that he actually has some design cred. They are working with a pretty good Canadian manufacturing company that also handles manufacturing for Yoko Devereaux (I think that they actually own some of that company now) and Surface to Air, so I think that really helps. That the line is pretty moderately priced and that they seem to be sticking mostly to their strengths (hoodies and tees) probably works in their favor as well.
Answer:
Are the NDG shirts this season still very long?
Answer:
I thought you were going to talk about how you were so excited to come to NY, went all the way to Brooklyn for Oak and then realized they about about 15-30 articles for men.
Answer:
Ha! Although, I do like Stuart&Wright as well.
Answer:
House brands pretty much always suck. Rye is right in saying it's just a way for them to make more money. I think the only house brand I've been impressed with are south willard cords and jeans.
The ndg cord shirt in L fits superbly but is pretty mediocre in design. I do like the extra thick mop buttons though. Their military shirt still fits like garbage though.
Answer:
This makes no sense. So, the fit is good, but the design sucks? Do you mean that the construction is poor? That you don't like the details? That the design elements are not coherent?
Answer:
What don't you understand, the design of the shirt ie the patterns are generic, bland, boring, uncreative would you like me to come over to your house and spell it out on your fridge with magnetic letters so you understand?
PS. I'm taking my revolve code back.
Answer:
PSS. Are you ndg's official reprsentative? Do you own stock or an interest in ndg?
:slapfight:
Answer:
No, no interest or stock in Nom de Guerre. But a good cut, a good fit, is most of what good design is. I mean, what is there to a shirt? Break it down and you have a couple of body panels, a couple of yoke pieces, a collar, and some sleeves. Sure, you can add all sorts of doodads to it, but good design is not in the doodads, or at least not necessarily so. You have great shirtmakers who make very basic shirts, but they are made perfectly. That is good design.
To me, it's sort of silly to say that a piece of clothing fits superbly, but then condemn it as poorly designed because it is simple.
Of course, you have your Margielas and Jil Sanders and Helmut Langs who revisit the very elements of the shirt, but that is besides the point.
Oh jet, just because I'm :teach: you doesn't mean that I don't love you, you sensitive thug. Now come lemme give you a hug :)
Answer:
is there still a working revolve code?
Answer:
