Flipping up your cuff on long sleeves

Question:

Couple questions on this look.
1. Does anyone else here do it?
2. When did this start becoming popular, and who thinks it actually looks good?
3. Does it irritate anyone else as much as it irritates me?
Answer:
1. No
2. Is it?
3. Yes
Answer:
That guy/shirt is pretty douchey looking, but I roll the sleeves (not flip the cuffs) on most of my button front shirts casually, if the climate is willing.
Answer:
Yes, just to clarify - I'm not talking about rolling the sleeves up. I'm talking about just the cuff only, like in the picture.
Answer:
1. NO WAY
2. It isnt, and it doesnt
3. I need a creme for my irritation, after seeing that pic
Answer:
Hahaha! That picture is hilarious!
I do roll up my sleeves, especially if it's hot, but I wouldn't "flip" them once on purpose.
However, I have noticed that some shirts have nifty contrasting prints on that "flip" side. The only way you'd ever see them was to intentionally flip the sleeve; if you rolled it up fully they'd be hidden again.
So maybe there is a fashion movement in that direction ... I just don't think I'd be a part of it.
Answer:
Ya'll mofos haven't seen this at all? I saw it all over the place in Vegas when I was there last month. I see it in Orange County...been seeing it for a while actually.
Answer:
Perhaps you shouldn't be hanging out in such jackass-friendly places :)
Ah, but which came first, the guys who flip, or the designers who encourage it? I have a Ted Baker shirt from a few years abck that has contrasting cuffs and collar. Maybe Paul Smith has done this as well? I have definitely seen it in mall stores recently.
Answer:
An excellent question! Does anybody know the answer to it?
I bought a shirt last year that has that contrasting flip print and I thought it was a nice touch. However, it never occurred to me that I was *supposed* to flip it and let the world see it.
From a theoretical standpoint, it might simply sell more shirts. Why have a plain old regular sleeve when you can have a sleeve with bling?
Answer:
I've hated this since its inception dating back to I don't know when. I think I hate it more than you actually and it's always the amjacks with shirts that are too big. You are correct in that it is popular in OC (where affliction shirts are hot now) and vegas aka poser central.
Answer:
I believe this will be the evolved-AmJack look this fall. Look for it at your local AmJack watering holes.
Answer:
I'd love to be the photographer for this shoot
"ok, you're a big douchbag now. See that guy looking at you, you're better than him. See that girl over there, she wants you...bad. Roll up the sleeves. PERFECT. Alright, now fuck the camera with your eyes. Ok, all done"
Answer:
This was a look that was popular with Amjacks for the last couple years. I remember seeing it on Express Maniquins a couple years ago
Answer:
rolling the sleeve up like that because it has the paisley print is like sagging your jeans to show off your boxers.
Answer:
haha yeah this is style is a vegas staple also. I think this style was born somewhere in the southern california area or possibly Vegas. Very popular and common in san diego, LA and las vegas areas. if you live in any of those places then you know what i mean. yeah i've done this before.
