Rate my tee/hoodie purchases

Question:
Im about to order some new threadless tees:
queen
staring
squeak
stars
walnut
and a new hoodie (id like to be able to wear it with a jacket/blazer)
what do you think?
Answer:
I don't really like many threadless tees and those are no different. The elephant one isn't terrible, but it just reeks of myspace "look how cool and unique i am by wearing funny shirts". And the ones that aren't like that just have really weird, bad, messy graphics. If it's your thing, then it'll definitely work, but i don't like the graphics on my tshirts to be so attention grabbing. I have a weird thing about people trying to read or decipher my tshirts and staring at my chest. It's just not my thing. The hoodie is kinda the same thing. The fit looks kinda baggy in the chest and arms, and off center graphics i thought were out of style with the myspace crowd 2 years ago, but i don't know.
Sorry to be so harsh man, it's just nothing that i'd ever consider wearing. If you're into the threadless scene than that stuff is perfect though. As far as most threadless stuff goes, those are better than the others. No harm no foul, who knows, you'll probably post it in WAYWT and i'll ask "where do i cop?" so, cheers.
Answer:
I've never heard of "threadless", how exactly are they threadless?
I don't know if I'd wear any, but that 'queen' desing is sort neat.
Answer:
Queen & Walnut look alright. Not feeling the slogan tee or the others for the reasons chronoaug gave. I also think most threadless tees look like crap and out of the handful of threadless tees I have I only really wear Lemuria. That one's actually very cool irl, so it's a shame it's out of print!
Answer:
the staring one is kind of clever.
Answer:
It's just a site that releases graphic tshirts with either funny or cool/deep designs. They're really popular with the younger crowd. They have threads though. Lots of them, infact

im going for something fun and simple. something i can wear to bars and social events and say "look at my cool/funny/goofy tee shirt." corny? perhaps, but its all in fun IMO. i dont usually wear graphic tees or tees with clever sayings on them, but i thought i might try it out..
yes. weird, bad, messy graphic are my thing. lol. i get your point.
i hear you, but in this case i actually am going for something somewhat attention grabbing.
hrm. thanks for pointing out the issue with the fit. maybe i should look at AA. been meaning to, but havent gotten to it yet.
not sure what you mean by 'myspace crowd.'
no worries at all my friend. i would be disappointed to hear nothing less than brutal honesty on this board!
seriously, im a beginner and have not yet found my personal style and have a lot to learn. its great to be able to get this kind of feedback. much appreciated.
Answer:
By myspace i mean the teeny bopper, cool high school indie crowd that listens to the killers and my chemical romance and are members of the Threadless community(the people that post their shirts and comment everywhere). It's the kids trying to be really different and cool by wearing shirts with "clever" words on them, ironic stuff, or overly artsy off center graphics. In gainesville, there still a couple people at UF who dress like that and there are a bunch of local high school kids i see running around in the same thing. It's just a generally more immature style(not trying to offend you, but some of the other people i see wearing the style). I see normal, chill people wearing a similar shirt with more toned down clothes like nice fitting cords, and chucks and facial hair for that "portland hippie look"(which i'm actually a semi-fan of if you can pull it off, but it only really works at college).
AA hoodies are pretty cheap and are generally more fitted than more casual ones you'll find at gap, express, or from the looks of it, the one you posted. The london thermal lined one is warmer but not as slim. The california fleece one is pretty slim, but i actually like the Flex Fleece one a lot as it is nice and slim throughout and breathes pretty well, while also keeping you warm.
I agree that those kinds of shirts do work well for house parties/social events though. I have a couple non-plain shirts like that that i wear every once in awhile. I have "Free Darko" shirt from when darko is on the pistons and he is bound by chains which is pretty funny if you're a big nba fan(i'll post a pic in the nba thread), and 2 Smiths shirts that were given to me as gifts. I usually wear the smiths shirts underneath things as i don't like drawing attention with stuff like that, but i do really like the smiths. I can only really wear tshirts from dead, broken up, or older bands set in their ways as too many times when i like a band when they first start out, they change their style completely and i'm not a big fan anymore. And i can't wear a shirt i don't fully support or i feel like a hypocrite.
Answer:
DEFINITELY not me. Im a 30-something soon-to-be new yorker. I might fit into the latter category of threadless-wearer (sans the portland-hippie part), however ;)
Im looking for something that can be layered. Maybe with a blazer or something. (I may have mentioned that already). Ive attached a pic of what I am thinking of. Came across it online somewhere.
Answer:
imo, rarely is a tshirt 'stylish' if its anything other then just a plain solid t. anything more such as 'funny' slogans or cartoons, or 'dark' screen printing with thorns and what not, just comes off as immature and trying too hard. theres no way some one who is really mature and has a good sense of style would wear these.
ill admit though less then a year ago i did consider making a purchase from threadless. i geuss my tastes have changed though, since i rarely wear a tshirt.
Answer:
free darko is a fantastic NBA website, if not a misguided cause.
Answer:
Oh yea. I've been reading and talking to those guys there since they started 2+ years ago, even though it has absolutely nothing to do with freeing darko in the literal sense. I don't frequent as much as i used to though, as it's sometimes more pretentious than it used to be, and also there are way too many anonymous comments in the 40s-60s now. It's not just the "nothing is good if someone else likes it thing", but it was nice when it was the original 3-5 FD guys, plus about 10 regular commentors. It's cool that there are so many opinions now, but it's kinda like how sufu is great at times, but it's just too much at others. I'm really happy for all the success that shoals has gotten this past year. He has come a real long way from his early months.
I'm also not a huge fan of the hoodie-blazer combo, but i'd go with the normal california fleece hoodie or the flex fleece hoodie as the london one would be too thick for layering methinks.
Answer:
Check out deadspin.com, IRC free darko sometimes writes for them.
Answer:
ick. I can't stand deadspin. Freedarko is still good shit and shoals is still true to his original intent. Deadspin is a completely different monster now and there is just way too much shit happening to keep up. I think "you're with me, leather" and the big ben pictures killed the site. Another discussion for another time i guess.
Answer:
could be, I've been a fan of Leitch since "life as a loser", though I aviod the site now unless I have time to kill, it's too cliquey/message boardy.
