Question:
Well, despite my previous misgivings, I ordered a pair of 5EP last night from Revolve. I went LDB Dark Worn, because with their looser fit and slightly wider leg, I felt these more appropriate as a casual (and therefore pre-washed) jean. I saw the SDZ at Ron Herman last week, and though those fit pretty awkwardly (partly cause they didn't have my size), I really liked the look of the DW. They should arrive tomorrow or Saturday, I'll give a fuller report then.
Answer:
post pics when you get them please.
Answer:
I got the LDB raw from revolve a couple of weeks ago. Believe me when I say they are terrific jeans. How did SDZ fit aside from being awkward. I was considering them and was wondering how they fit.
Answer:
got the LDB raw as well. Best pair of jeans I own, neck and neck with KMW... but I like the fit on 5EP better.
Answer:
IMO, Like 80s "dad jeans." Higher waisted than the LDB and more room in the bottom of the seat and backs of the thighs.
Answer:
The SDZ is supposedly based on the 501. It's medium rise, fairly roomy in the waist and seat, and fairly fitted in the legs. I didn't especially like mine so I sold all of the pairs I owned. I think the LDB is about the perfect cut for me, wearing my rigids today. The LDB has a significantly lower rise, is somewhat more fitted in the top block, and still slim below the knee.
Answer:
Yea, I'd tried the resin once, but didn't love the fit for a dressier jean, still a little to loose. However I decided that for casual wear, they'd probably be perfect. I went with a 31, we'll see if I need a 32, though when I tried the SDZ in a 32, it was huge in the waist.
What I really got tired of was jamming my balls every time I went for my money clip or BlackBerry. This is less of a problem when I'm dressed up, as I usually have a blazer, but for casual wear, most jeans were just too tight at the very top, and I needed something a bit more relaxed (but still well-fitted).
Answer:
I don't think the fit is too loose if you size down, as long as your calves fit.
Answer:
Yea, I think a 31 in these will be just right. As far as filling out the calves, that could take some work, seeing as it's still a slight bootcut and my thighs are a lot bigger than my calves :D.
Answer:
Well, I think the thigh area is significantly less slim than the area below the knee on my 5EP raws, at least. I sized down one, and they are fitted, but not tight in the top block, and quite fitted in the calf area. My calves/thighs are both muscular but pretty symmetrical.
Answer:
Well they arrived today, and I love them. For a casual jean, the fit and look is perfect. Did you say once that you experienced little to no stretching in the waist? These fit perfectly as of now, and the fit is perfect everywhere. I thought I remember you once saying that this is not a jean to size down on (unless buying the raw).
Answer:
what are the SDZ's? I've got 5ep SD Raws that I'm pretty content with so far. My only qualm is that they're so loose in the seat. The fading on them is great. It's got a nice greenish tint to it.
