Question:
I guess I'm just looking for general opinions on these brands. No, I'm not a brand whore, but I guess I'd just like to know what I'm buying before I buy it.
American Apparel--I have a few shirts that seem pretty solid for the low price. I don't expect them to last more than a year or so, but the fit seems good for the price.
H&M--I know this store has to vary erraneously in quality. I have a few regular t-shirts and some ribbed-shirts. Again, fit is good but I'm iffy on the quality of them. They're also the only store that sells reasonably priced slim cut button-ups and sweaters. Every other place like Banana Republic and J Crew make me look like a square. How do their sweaters/button-ups hold up?
Nudie--Obviously they have a great rep on this board, but how long of a life can I expect to get out of an average pair of raw jeans? If I drop $265, I want to make sure it's well worth it.
Thanks for any comments.

Decent if you buy it in store and make sure nothing is wrong with it. I have had some weird mail orders though, massively bad stitching. happened on at least 2 plain t shirts.

I would say quality is cheap, its basically disposable clothing like gap, etc. Nothing wrong with that though. I've bought similar quality for more $$ based on label cachet.

Nudie is not one of the more durable denim brands. Still, it's not particularly worse than other brands but if longevity is your absolute #1, skip nudie. Look for something heavier, with possible riveting. otherwise its just like any other average premium denim.
Answer:
Nudies have a bad rep on these boards and the heart of this poster. They are considered slighly bandwagon-y and of poor, overpriced quality. If you are willing to spend that much on a pair of jeans that you want to last, get a pair of Samurais or Iron Hearts. If you're looking for something a litle more snazzy and thin, go for a pair of Pure Blue Japans in the 005 cut.

HM has good cuts, but poor quality. AA has pretty decent cuts and pretty decent quality for the price, but they shrink like crazy.
Answer:
Wow, I always thought Nudies were basically the "end-all" jeans. I'm not exactly looking for that kind of pair yet, but we'll see.
Answer:
That's the main thing that bothers me about the Nudie community and followers. The notion that Nudie is the 'be all, end all' of denim is outrageous, egregious, preposterous. As was pointed out in that thread, it's like saying that weed is the absolute hardest drug you can ever take. They are also way overpriced for the quality.
1st tier brands (in order of my personal preference and grouped with weight, durability, hardware, denim, patches and customer service in mind):
Samurai
45 RPM
Warehouse
Answer:
I tend to agree about Nudie. After trying two pairs of SSDS and having stitching falling out on both I said enough is enough. Now, if I want mass-produced euro jeans I buy Diesel. While some of their stuff is way out there, I like the fits better, I think that their washes are more interesting, and I find the construction to be pretty damn good for under $200.
Answer:
AA is only thing I can comment on. Their fits are nice enough, but the colors fades too quickly for my liking and if you are getting them wholesale there will be a few screwed up ones in there...
Answer:
I have two AA v-necks. One shrank close to 3" inches in the torso after a wash/dryer while the other shrank .5".
My Nudies were around $170. I'm not so sure about the overall quality, as I've barely had them over a month, but I love the cut (Even Steven).
No, it's more like saying weed is the best drug you can take. :p
(Which is a matter of opinion.)
Answer:
No, that's closer to 'fit' in terms of opinion. I won't entertain the notion that 45 RPM or Warehouse denim is on the same level of Nudie based on opinion.
You could easily argue that Nudie has better cuts, and you would be (subjectively) right.
Answer:
That's hardly a debate :tounge:.
Answer:
I remember when I got here, Nudies were like the Olympus of jeans...so much has changed.
I'm rather fond of mine.
