why the stretch in Rag & Bone denim?

Question:
Not only are most online stores completely dry of R&B denim, the ones that do have a few are mostly made with that awful 98% cotton 2% stretch ratio. Please tell me they're not putting that terrible spandex in all their jeans now? I saw a pair of RB11s at Active Endevours that now have 2% stretch in them. WTF? It may only be 2% but I can easily tell apart denim that's all cotton and denim that has stretch, and I don't like it at all. I just don't like unnatural products being added to the denim, keep it natural the way it's always been.
Answer:
Yeah, that natural denim...naturally grown in fields and naturally picked, combed, woven, dyed, re-dyed, cut, shaped, stitched, with metal and leather added....
:violin:
Answer:
Duhh, natural as in 100% cotton and without synthetics added. Like you don't know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, I expect regulars of the board to bash me for being new, it's predictable already. He does this so he can beat his chest like a gorilla and display his high status in the group. Well done, apeboy. You've really intimidated me and impressed the other apes.
Answer:
I haven't impressed anybody, they all hate me here for not worshipping at the same altars of skinny denim, chucks and western shirts...
Take it easy, champ...I'm just kidding with you. I'm just surprised the 2% makes that much difference to you - I find it hard to notice 2% anything. Maybe makes shirts a little less wrinkly.
Maybe they put it in because they know everyone sizes down?
LAGuy can probably put you on the right track, he's the denim savant.
And chill the fuck out, it's the best way to fit in...cheers!
Answer:
I've never seen any R&B jeans with stretch, and I'd be *very* surprised if the RB11s used it. Although the label is now comprised of different people than it used to be, so I guess there is reason for change.
Answer:
Erm, I am relaxed, champ. How exactly am i indicating otherwise? You made a derogatory post to me, but instead of responding in kind, i merely clarified myself and then stated an observation about how these messageboards usually operate. But yeah, 2% stretch is noticeable to anyone who appreciates and knows enough about denim to be on a messageboard like this. And it's because of the skin-tight jeans you hate that jeansmakers have started putting that spandex crap in denim. I'm sure a lot of other denim lovers don't like it either. It's just strange that rag & bone of all people, whose collection consists of mostly relaxed to straight leg jeans with only a couple somewhat slim fitting jeans, would use spandex. Leave that junk to brands like April 77 is how I feel about it.
Answer:
Brian, check out Active Endevours and Factory People. It just bums me out cause I've always wanted a few pairs of R&Bs, and now it looks like the only way I'll be able to find the ones i want are on ebay or the selling threads on boards like this. I just dont like the way denim looks and feels with spandex.
Answer:
We tend to unneccessarily brutal sarcasm around here. But you seem like a chill guy, so no worries. I've actually been looking at R&B too, because I don't like the super-skinny vibe. You'd better not be a 30W or I'll have to hunt you down and kill you for decreasing the already tiny supply...:)
edit: R&B on ebay?? Since when?
Answer:
No worries, I'm a fan of the biting sarcasm myself. I'm not into the superskinny look either, I go for the slim straight leg, RB11s are pretty much the perfect fit for me. I love R&B too, but have never been able to afford them, or Ive gone with a different brand instead. But yeah every once in a while you can find them on Ebay, that's where i won the RB11s im trying to sell on here. He also had a pair of black RB15s but only a 31 inseam on those so i had to pass. No i usually wear a 33 waist (maybe 32), and I'm really skinny too, so I can't even imagine how guys bigger than me can fit into 28s or 29s. I figured the size 30s i have would stretch, but i forgot to take into account the cotton lining the waist has. :plain:
Answer:
Have you checked out DenimBar? They have a pretty good selection of R&B. I got some RB6's from them. And with the here discount they worked out pretty good. I'm not a big fan of stretch jeans either. Leave them to the women. I'm not one to wear my jeans tight. Slim fitting but never tight.
Answer:
I too have noticed a lot of online stores stock the 2% elastane variety. Not my bag. :(
Answer:
It's very noticeable. I don't think its bad or anything, but its noticeable. I'm not all that wrapped up in the denim purity thing....
Answer:
i thought the only r&b that were stretch added were the new rb16 cut? the rb15's def weren't

People generally don't get bashed around here for being new, but sometimes they get bashed for starting off with a chip on their shoulder.
Answer:
Not so. I hate you without regard for your views on denim.
