Question:
I have a wool coat that I'd like to get altered to give it a slimmer fit.
(1) Is it a relatively easy thing to do? Could I just look up any decent tailor in the yellow pages and expect him/her to do a good job with it or do I need to do some research to find a good tailor?
(2) How much would it cost approximately?
Answer:
really depends on the contsruction, but I'd say any decent tailor can do it. if it has a complex lining its a bit harder than if its just a wool shell, but anyway shouldn't be a big deal.
excpect to pay something like $25-50 (maybe) depending on the tailor and what the jacket is like.
Answer:
I have a similar problem, but I'd like to get a military jacket slimmed down and possibly some button work. Would anyone anticipate a problem because of the thickness or type of material being used? It is a standard olive army military jacket but I was told by a previous tailor that my blazer's arms couldn't be shortened because the material was too thick.
Answer:
well I'd say anything that has been sewn together originally should be possible to alter in some way.. but I suggest you just take it to a couple of tailors and let them tell you, its hard to guess without seeing the material.
