Nicer shoes for going out?

Question:
so ive updated my wardrobe a little bit and ive started buying more polos and dress shirts. ive stopped buying skater t-shirts for the moment 'cus i wanna look atleast half decent when going out. the problem now is that with these nicer clothes, i dont really have shoes (at night) to go with them. ex. black polos, black button ups, etc. (stuff i would wear going out on a saturday) i usually wear sneakers like nike dunks, legends, predecessors, reebok ventilators, and reebok classics. im still looking for a sneaker, but something a little nicer.
ive seen these creative recreations and they seem pretty nice and versatile

would these go well with a dress shirt? polo? blazer?
do you guys have other suggestions on what you wear or you've seen? thanks
Answer:
I wouldn't wear those with a polo or blazer, although they may work casually. I wouldn't consider a purple shoe to be "versatile" Personally I would look at some sort of boot, chelsea or otherwise, or even a desert style boot.
Answer:
I don't really understand the fascination with chelsea boots around here. I'd suggest getting a pretty basic pair of black or brown wingtips.
Answer:
It's great that you are 'dressing up' now. I like that you are still staying with your style and sticking with your sneakers genre. Maybe you would like to check out some hybrid shoes as a transition. Check out Prada or Miu-Miu.
Answer:
I haven't seen any Pradas yet that didn't have the soles glued on. I don't find their look is really any better than the Puma Neil Barretts.
Those shoes I don't think would work that well for "nicer", either slip on or lace up seems normal, but having a velcro strap doesn't seem to quite fit.
Some places that have a dress code might not allow shoes like that either, they'd want dress shoes or plain black, grey or brown shoes. I think the New Balance 991s are liked quite a bit and I find they look nice, you could probably get away with those most places because NB markets to the people who have foot problems.
Answer:
Did you seriously just recommend New Balances for going out to clubs?
Answer:
Going out isn't only to clubs.
Answer:
Clearly, but most of the time when one refers to dress codes about shoes, they're discussing clubs. Most restaurants don't say "Jacket required, no tennis shoes"
Answer:
OK....I don't want to make any assumptions about the original poster's income, but based on what I read in the post and the pair in the link on zappos, I'm guessing Prada and Miu Miu are a little out of the desired price range.
New Balance are not acceptable in a club, but you might be able to get away with a pair of John Varvatos Converse. They're pretty trendy, and are probably acceptable in most places that will accept jeans. They run around 85-100 A blazer would dress them up nicely too.
Other starters are Sketchers or Kenneth Cole. They will be poorly made, and you'll be lucky if they last a year, but they'll give you a good feel for how you look in a dressier shoe, and if you like it, you can build up the clothes and save money for a better pair until they quit on you.
Hope that helps,
Ron
Answer:
I wouldn't recommend Sketchers or KC, you can get To Boot NY shoes, or something of the like from ebay or Nordstrom Rack or Saks Off Fifth for $50-100 and those would be much better IMO.

Something like the above would be nice IMO.
Answer:
Some strib bars do.
Answer:
Clearly you attend a different type of venue than myself.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
Answer:
Good call on going for better quality at a discount...I'm just too lazy for that usually.
Here's a link for the varvatos convers (suede jack purcell), since the post did say a "sneaker" is preferred.

Answer:
I prefer to avoid both, but given the choice I prefer a strip club. At least there's no broken glass to worry about stepping on, or drunks looking for a fight, or people getting shot...
Answer:
Umm, I'm not too sure about that. A lot of people have been getting shot at strip clubs lately.
