Question:
*no pics sorry*
I may rubberneck from time to time but I draw the line there, I ain't taking no pics of no dudes ass.
Anyways, was on the Subway this morning saw these kids get on, one was wearing some black selvage jeans. Cuffed to show this unique (imo) selvege line. They had a Samurai in red robe on the left pocket and some Japanese writing on the right. What were they?
For the record I didn't like them and he was wearing them way to baggy for me to even identify the cut - just curious to know what they were. Typically I don't see selvege lines on cuffs that deep into the BX.
Answer:
Sounds like Oni to me - I read somewhere they use Red selvage and they have pockets with demons/samurai on one side and Kanji on the other.
Answer:
They were probably Red Monkey Jeans.

Answer:
Do those jeans actually have porn on the back? WTF? I was gonna start a thread about Red Monkey jeans and whether they were any good, but those just freak me out.

The quality of Red Monkey Jeans is pretty good. Just like Chinese made Evisu, which is unsurprising, as Red Monkey is basically taking the same formula and just changing the pockets.
Red Monkey is a chinese company (Hong Kong - owned by Martin Ksohoh) and the jeans are made in China.
The needle-punched pockets are interesting. Needle-punching or 'Agugliato' is quite a rare technique these days. The denim is backed by another fabric (plaid, in Red Monkey's case), and then needles push some of the plaid's fibre's through onto the denim side creating the pattern on the pockets.
Note, not all the jeans feature Agugliato. Mostly the pockets just have regular embroidery.
