Question:
I got a pair of Helmut Langs a tad too large at the waist. About half an inch to an inch. Is it possible to take it to a tailor and bring it it? I remember someone said before that it will mess up the shape of the jeans. But I'm only bringing it in a bit.
Answer:
nope, just wear a belt.
Answer:
yea, .5" - 1" is nothing noticeable a belt wont take care of. 1+" then you got issues.
Answer:
"Taking in" a pair of jeans is possible. I took a couple of pairs of levi 501's to a tailor to have the waist taken in but I decided not to do it. He wanted to charge me $20 per pair.
It seems to require a lot of work. The waistband needs to be removed from the jean, shortened, then fabric needs to be removed from the jeans themselves to accomodate the shortened waistband. This can be done and must be done somwhere on the jean so it won't be seen. Plus, "ripping" the waistband from the jeans and sewing it back on isn't the easiest thing due to denim being a pretty thick, coarse fabric.
