Are my Ferragamos fake?

Question:
I have been searching Ebay and I have a pair of Ferragamos that look just like these ones

Everything about the exterior is the same. The only difference is mine has a different looking inside. Instead of that little Ferragamo tag, it has this tag
http://ferragamo.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod10152&parentId=cat126&master Id=cat125&cmCat=cat000000cat102cat125cat126&index= 5&tid=C9
Also, on the bottom of the shoe, The pair posted on ebay has a silver label on the bottom. Mine does not. The pair of ebay also say s "Tramezza". Mine does not.
Does anyone know if mine are real? I Searched the ferragamo site and couldn't find one matching the ones I own. The pair I own feel like high quality. The leather is soft and very flexible.
Can anyone chim in?
Answer:
They are probably real, just an older model. If you could post pics, that would help.
Answer:
Probably real.
The difference is because Ferragamo has different shoe lines: Tramezza (top line) and lavorazione originale (line below but very decent quality if you ask me). Each shoe line has slightly different markings on the sole and inside.
Answer:
How is the Studio Line? I received my Studio Line Monk Straps today and they are wonderful.
The pair in question actually look exactly like the pair shown in the Ebay Link. The Tramezza line. Sole is different though.
What do you all think of Mezlans?
Answer:
Those are likely real. I have a pair of Ferragamo's from about 1998 that have a similar tag.
If you have never worn Ferragamo before, I suggest heading over to Nordstrom to try them on; they tend to run fairly narrow. You'd hate to buy them on EBay and then be stuck with something that doesn't fit.
Answer:
Ferragamo Tramezza line (top of the line): has cloth tag on insole and small metal tag on sole, or cursive writing saying "Tramezza". Excellent construction method (Goodyear welted, closed channel) and top quality leather.
Ferragamo Lavorazione Originale (regular line), typically retails around $400-$550 range. Has the printed "Ferragamo" on the insole, and usually half stitchings visible on the sole. I'm not sure what the construction is, but I doubt it's Goodyear welted. Decent quality
Ferragamo Studio: lower end line. OK leather, OK construction.
Answer:

What he said. You probably have authentic Ferragamos, but not from the high-end Tramezza line. On the sole, at the waist, instead of the little gold plaque that says "Tramezza", yours should have "Lavorazione Originale" embossed on the sole.
Answer:
Or if they're older, just the SF logo script and "Made in Italy." They also had a line (or at least captoe oxfords) that had the grey cloth tag inside but were Blake-stitched. The leather seems to be to be a little better than that used on their bit loafers, but not Tramezza good. IIRC they retailed for around $500 ca. 2001.
Answer:

You're absolutely right. I have a pair of 8D monk straps that fit perfectly, a pair of 8D loafers that require padding on the inside, and a pair of 7D loafers that are very snug.
Answer:
What does it mean if the soles do not show any visible stitching?
For the pair in question, I see stitching on the bottom half of the sole. For my other two pairs, I do not see stitching. Does this mean they're glued on? Can the soles still be replaced if it is not stitched?
Answer:
Bruce, I hate to burst your bubble but in my experience, Studio is absolute crap. I love Ferragamo and have several pair of hte middle line. I love the styling of Ferragamo shoes in general. But I've had two pair of studio shoes. One of them was black dress oxford, and the whole thing was held together with glue and literaly fell apart after 1 year and about 6 wearings. the other Studio was a loafer that I threw out after about 2 years. It had a bit more wear but still, 2 years is too soon.
I was shocked that Ferragamo would lend its name to such crappy construction. That being said, I hope your experience is different.
Answer:
While I agree with your general thrust about Ferragamo Studio, I had a pair of Studio bit-loafers that I wore incessantly, until the soles had giant gaping holes in them, and the construction held up. I'm inclined to think my experience was the exception rather than the rule, though.
PS: Nobody answered the earlier question about Mezlan. Here's my general take: assuming you find a pair that you think looks good (I find most of their output hideous, but they generally have one or two decent models) and you get them for a good price, they're fine. I wouldn't recommend paying more than ~$70 for them, though.
Answer:
In contrast, I have a pair of studios that have worn rather well and are quite comfortable. I have the Delirio and have been happy with them. I bought them becuase I really liked the deep chocolate brown color and the styling of them. That said, I still love my Tramezza's more. Ferragamos are my favorite shoe (until I buy my first pair of Santonis). I currently have 6 pairs (1 studio, 2 regular line and 3 Tramezza).
I will agree that they are a narrow shoe. I can generally wear a D width, but sometimes need an E. In Ferragamos I find I not only need the EE width, but a smaller size (10 instead of a 10 1/2). I am going to second the advice to go to Nordstrom and try severl styles on to determine your correct size.
Answer:
I have two pairs of Ferragamo Studio captoes and I am very happy with both of them. Very comfortable, and I like the way they look. One of them I have worn for quite some time, and you cannot notice. I thought I had three pairs of SF Studio, but the third one has this cloth tag on the insole and the small metal tag on sole, so I guess it is actually Tramezza... I am very pleased about this sudden status improvement, just what my shoe collection needed. By the way, the presumed Tramezzas are also very comfortable and actually feel more "substantive" and "solid" than the Studio ones, but I do not know if it is due to better construction or just due to the fact that it is a different model. Unfortunately, they are black...
Answer:
LOL, that's like saying you thought you had a Kia and it turned out you had a Lexus.
