usually... i would comfort them... if they wanna talk about the issue, i'll listen... but usually, i won't force a person to talk in this situation if they don't wanna talk (eg: most of the time, i wouldn't feel like talking about the issue if i broke down).
also, if u've got a friend who looks sad and suddenly broke down, don't just sit there, do nothing and STARE at them... cuz... the person who broke down wouldn't like it.
why? cuz i've been the crying person before..

I just stay silent. There's nothing really you can say or do. Cause if I was crying, I wouldn't really want sympathy or them to ask What's wrong ..I would like it if they were just there for you, silently is good.

Now that I think about it, asking what's wrong isn't going to help anything. But I guess it's kind of a reflex thing to say. When a person tries to comfort me when I'm crying, I tend to cry harder.. not sure why..
But I think the best thing a person can do to comfort their crying friend is to just be there for them. Give them hugs, try to make them smile/happy. I hate it when people just ignore you.. this one time, when I broke down in front of my friends, they all just went, what's wrong? and when I didn't feel like saying anything, they just completely ignored me. That made me feel so much worse... anyway, the point is, just be there for your friend during their hard times. Nothing is worse then being upset about something and having to go through it alone at the same time.
