i recommend Paulo Ceolho's Like the Following River....he's the author of The alchemist and the book i'm recommending contains various short stories written over a few years about his thoughts and refelctions. it proves to be an excellent read. quite typcal of his style. from it, you can actually realise how daily life can be meaningful when you do things you thought were routine or used things that seemed insignificant.
i'll give one example. this is a short story about a boy asking his granny something about what he should grow up to be..i can't really reacll..but the granny told him to be like a pencil. (not the mechanical one) the pencil had 5 qualities we all, as human beings should observe. i'd say it differs from person to person how many qualitites apply but basically she talks about the lessons we can learn from the functions of the pencil and how it is used. =) something simple, but yet rich in meaning.
