RACIST PARENTS.

Question:
Don't you hate them?
My mom is especially racist against latinos. We live in Chinatown and it's right next to a big Latino neighborhood so you'd THINK she's used to being around them, but noooooo. Ok, here's my situation. I typed it to my friend so I'll just copy & paste everything, sensoring my screen name of course. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
oohh: omg my mom is SO stupid.
oohh: so i went to check out the prices for the six hours behind the wheel sh-t where the person teaches you to drive in the car right ?
oohh: and it was in lincoln [as in lincoln heights, it's the big latino community i was talking about]
oohh: and it was mexican people
oohh: so my mom KNEW it was going to be mexicans teaching me
oohh: i don't have a problem with that
oohh: so we went back today to pay for my lessons
oohh: ($180 down the drain)
oohh: everything was good.
oohh: then like 15 mintues ago while i was in the kitchen drinking my medicine
oohh: alla sudden she goes
oohh: i don't trust mexicans. the person's gunna tell you to drive somewhere & then kidnap you.
oohh: i go WTFFFF YOU HAD LIKE 2 DAYS TO SPEAK UP ABOUT IT. YOU KNEW FROM YESTERDAY AFTERNOON THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE MEXICANS TEACHING ME. WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY ANYTHING ?!?!?!
oohh: she goes i just thought about it right now.
oohh: i go SO YOU THOUGHT THEY WERE F-CKING ASIAN THIS WHOLE TIME OR SOME SH-T ?!?!??!!?
Yeah, sorry for the foul language too. I just cuss a lot in general.
Anyways, do YOU have racist parents? Share some funny stories! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
Answer:
instead of yelling at her, why don't you just correct her for her ignorance.
and it's reasonable to assume for your mother to assume something like that, but not making it right. but yeah. whatever. it's nothing big.
you walk in the middle of a night, who would you be most comfortable with seeing behind you walking as well? a white person or black?
done.
Answer:
My mom says bad things about Chinese people, but we are Chinese too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
She's not really racist, just stereotypical
Answer:
I did correct it. She's one of those people who always think she's right. Even if she knows she's wrong. There is no changing her mind whatsoever.
Answer:
Yeah my family has some racism in them at times. I remind them we are no better than any other race and how would they feel if we were discriminated for being Asian.
Answer:
My parents are moreso stereotypical, they aren't really racist.
And they only generalize about Black people, mainly.
It's kinda hard to convince them that they're wrong, because once I show them an honest and whole-hearted Black person, the news is showing one that just robbed a bank. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
Oh well....we'll live.
Answer:
My parents don't care, cause they see it as people are just there to play their roles in society. They don't mind racism, and don't really do much to stop it either.
Answer:
My parents are really racist...
My mom dislikes Cambodians because... Oh I don't know, that Viet vs Khmer thing going in her head.
And I asked her why she doesn't like them and she said Um.. I don't know, I just get an ew feeling when thinking of them.
o__O
I really don't get it because Cambodian and Vietnamese are very similar in language and food (culture not so much)
And my parents are very stereotypical.
here's what they say.
White people = Don't know how to use money
Native = Not smart
East Indian = Very stinky, cheap
Korean = Annoying language (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
Anyway thats just a few. =X
Answer:
my mom hates on everybody but mostly on the vietnamese--even though we are too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) she says all people are bad. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) therefore she's very anti-social and FAKE [act like she's nice and that she likes you, then the minute you're not there...she talks a crapload of SMACK about you]

that's my mom too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
it's extremely annoying..because she's not always right..and i always have to listen to her (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
Answer:
Glad my mommy's not racist and taught me not to be!

I find that really ironic.
Answer:
No, my parents aren't racist and I'm happy about that.

Geeze, my parents are exactly the same way.
Answer:

my parents have been in exposure pretty long to other ethnicities, so they're pretty accepting. sometimes they can be stereotypical, but as for racist... i don't think so.

Answer:
Heres a convo between my dad and I,
Me: Dad, why do you think most singers, dancers, and professional athletes are black?
Dad: Because they are like gorillas, they are strong like gorillas, they can make loud noise like gorillas, and they jump from trees to trees like gorillas.
My parents are hella racist, I don't know why but for some reason they don't like mexicans and african americans.
Answer:
yeah definately...
-______-
Answer:
When my dad was younger he was not the type of guy to be around. Now that he is older, he has mellowed out, with the mom, and the fact that he has learned a thing or two about the world.
Its really hard to change the way that you think, just sit back agree with them (it helps, cause then you do not get into trouble), and when they are no longer around, as long as you know yourself that your not the same as your parents, then it should not matter.
Answer:
not so much but they're a bit judgemental.. the other day there was a guy walking on the sidewalk with a turban and my dad went, oh taliban.
T_T, this coming from a man who lived in saudi arabia for 10+ years. you would THINK he knew better since arabs wear turbans too, but no. he had to ASSUME and think they were taliban. or it was just a STUPID STUPID joke of his.
my dad also seems to have something against black people. he always always comments on how lazy they are and they don't do anything. at his work i guess there's an abundance of them who are just hanging around not being any help. i told him not all of them were like that and he was just stereotyping but he just went on with his rant.
annd of course my WHOLE family doesn't like mexicans. they hate going to places with a ton of mexicans and just generally don't like being around them even though our city is filled with mexicans.
Answer:
Eek..those are some bad stories . I'm glad my parents aren't that way at all. It also makes me kinda sad that all these other parents think that way..and don't realize how dumb they sound, EVER -.-;;
