Well... I currently live in Japan. I don't cook at home too often since I work far away from home. Anyway here's the usual spending:
$5 breakfast - probably something simple like toast or onigiri and a drink
$3 for a one-way ticket to work
$10~15 for lunch
$2 for a one-way ticket to tea time
$8 for tea time
$5 for a one-way ticket home
$3~6 for a one-way ticket to dinner
$10~25 for dinner
$3~6 for a one-way ticket home
So in a day that's around: $49~75 a day... and that's not even putting other necessities into account.
