Question:
i've been told by a teacher that illegal immigrants help stimulate the economy, but at the same time they are not paying tax dollars, and that's kind of unfair in a sense. i've also noticed that illegal immigrants tend not to integrate with the american community. ie: not learning the english language, many of the teens drop out of school, and i've had countless experiences with perverted hispanic men. sorry i really don't want to generalize or come off as racist but this is just my perspective. also, i don't look forward to learning an entirely new language when spanish becomes the next official language. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)
so the question is.. illegal immigration - for it or against it?
Answer:
i'm against it. i think you should come to the US (or any country) the proper way.
i don't know, maybe it's just my personal issues.
we were petitioning my grandpa to live in the US. the process is long.. and my grandpa died before he could even come here.
it's not fair how illegal immigrants could come here whenever when some people who do it the right way have to wait so long.
just my opinon. -shrugs-
Answer:
It's really wierd, like how can this even be a question? It's obviously a law so its just WRONG.. no ifs about it. It's not fair to the immigrants who came here legally.. who went through the long process and spent so much money getting here.
And about the economy, you know like tons of those people take the money they earn here and send it back to their country.. if anything we are losing money from that. I've heard some Hispanic kids justifying that by saying that their families back home are poor and need the money, but well, we have tons of families here too who are poor and who we need to take care of. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) I mean, if you are here for free, not paying taxes blah blah.. why should we care about your families back home? It's harsh but we shouldn't pay money out of our own pockets to let you live here, and you send your money out of the country. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue2.gif)
And I agree, illegal immigrants have a high rate of not knowing English. If you go down to Miami man.. its like mandatory for you to speak Spanish. It's ridiculous. One of my Indian friends went to a department store and the guy refused to help him because he couldn't speak Spanish! It was totally wtf. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Nowadays they are integrating Spanish into everything.. and it's just not fair.
Answer:
Many illegal immigrants I've known are actually very good people, and I wouldn't want them thrown out of the country or denied education or any healthcare (and the lack of integration is partly because it's harder to do so when you're illegal and avoid direct contact with most Americans out of fear), but I am not for illegal immigration. It's illegal for a reason, namely that a country with so many people already here and so many trying to get in can't just open the floodgates and let people come as they please. Did you know that some illegal immigrants actually do pay taxes? Most don't, though, you're right. They may stimulate the economy in some ways, but before illegal immigrants filled up the bottom rungs of the ladder here immigrants in general did, legal or not. Illegal immigrants now stimulate the economy partly by spending money here, but also by keeping the wages and conditions that many employers can get away with low. Is that really such a good thing? Illegal immigration is not always such a great deal for the immigrants, either, because it's like living on the edge all the time and the prospects for moving up in life further here are slim. I do also think it's unfair to the thousands waiting in line to come here legally. It's a bad deal for legal Hispanic immigrants, too, because many Americans now associate Hispanic immigrant with illegal immigrant even though not all Hispanic immigrants are illegal AND not all illegals are Hispanic.
As for the topic starter's problem with learning Spanish, most legal immigrants currently are also Spanish speakers, and learning Spanish is a good idea anyway. It's sure helped me a lot. The way this country's been going, though, Spanish won't ever become an official language for a long time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Don't forget the people with the most power in government are old white men who probably couldn't speak Spanish well enough to save their lives. Then, too, I've had plenty of experiences where shopkeepers around here only spoke Korean and could barely serve English-speaking customers. Anyway, languages in countries change as the populations change. If a huge number of people speak Spanish then shouldn't the country reflect that? I think so.

^ crime rates go up.
they dont have document so its hard to catch them.
ive experienced this.
i just think they should come in the right way. with documents. legalized.
Answer:
For it since it shouldn't be illegal in the first place. The only reason they are coming is because there are low skilled jobs open to them that no one else wants. There wouldn't be a point to come if there wasn't opportunity here.
Even if they don't pay state or federal taxes, they still pay sales tax. Also, illegal immigrants are not the only ones that are not paying taxes. How many times have you gone to an Asian restaurant that had a sign that says, Cash only? It's obvious that they are lying to the IRS about how much they make.
A second point is that the immigrants that come here will not give birth to immigrant children. Children born in the U.S. for example will become full tax paying citizens.

All immigrants that first come to the United States will band together in an unfamiliar place (i.e. China Town, Little Italy, Little Saigon, etc). If you went to a foreign country, would you blend in instantly and live with the locals? I would live close to people that I can communicate with and can help me out. It's just history repeating itself - why would you be mad?

You act like illegal immigrants are the only ones that send money back...

i can say a lot of things but i wont cuz most people already know whats up
Answer:
alot of extremities here and this is a very touchy subject.
first of all, the world should be a place where anyone can go to anyplace without having to do anything. but unfortunately its not. i can't say i am against / for illegal immigration because there are pros and cons to both sides.
immigration is what made this country, starting with the european settlers who wanted freedom and opportunity to have a better life then they would as the bottom class in europe. so yes immigration is a good thing because when people have the will to become better, to become educated, and to live a better life, their dreams are contagious to their friend and neighbors.
o yes btw, california, the state that has the one of the most illegal immigrant population has also the 4th or 5th best economy in the world ALONE.
i just know that the LEGAL immigration is set at only a few hundred thousand (maybe less maybe more) per year. very limited amount of people in a world of 6 billion plus. i agree illegal immigration is a problem but gosh we'll all be iindigenous soon with all these interracial marriages. like i said, very touchy subject. alot of pros and cons to both side. id rather worry about global warming though... mini cooper al gore got me scared.

hehe funny thing, a little off subject, but those immigrants looked down upon other immigrants ie blacks, asians, irish etc etc.. so unfair (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

thank you for acid rain -wondershowzen
well, i'm against it because my parents had to struggle and get their crap together to be legalized here so why can't they O.O
Answer:
I'm against it.
It's not fair to the legal immigrants who worked through all that paperwork and crap to get here.
Answer:
I'm against illegal immigration.
Answer:
The key word is illegal. Why give them a chance at a life when they commit a crime? Sure you can say it is not like they are committing serious illegal activities like drug running and killings, but that doesn't mean you can let them get away with something that is against the law.
Immigration did found this country, but was it illegal THEN? Did it threaten the economy and deny rightful men and women who grew up in this nation a job? Sure they take the low paying jobs, and maybe those poor people would not even want to take those jobs. Still doesn't matter, and they still live off our government like leeches from a pond.
I say deport or imprison.
Answer:
if yu look at how yu can LEGALLY come here, the process is nearly impossible if yu have no money or yu have no one here in the US thats here legally. half of the illegal immigrants here come from poor countries to work and make money to start a new life.
i'm not against it because i think everyone is entitled to a better life. its called making a living. yu gotta do what yu gotta do.
