Question:
I just went to a chinese restaurant for supper tonight and found a fly in my soup. It was fuzzy, so i don't want to eat from the same dish. I heard stories that chefs @ restaurants may spit in your food if you returned it....
i felt iffy about telling the waitress about it. But it was gross... so we returned the dish (there was 12 of us from the same bowl of soup... the giant soup dish)
the waitress at first just gave me a new bowl, basically indicating me to scoup it from the same giant bowl. We just stared at her. finally, they replaced our dish...but gave us a more water - downed dish.
Would you have complained unsatisfactory dishes?
Answer:
Yeah. If it's no good, then it's no good. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)
Answer:
I'd just leave without paying. I wouldn't want to eat at a place that gave me flies unless I ordered some.
Answer:
Yeah, I hate that when that happens.
It's even worse when the wait staff get all sarcastic on you.
One time I found this fly in my bowl of pho.
I complained and asked WTH is this fly doing in my pho?
The waitress looked at it and said, Drowning, I guess. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
Answer:
I'd return it.
I mean, if I'm paying for it, I deserve a satisfactory meal! 8(
Answer:
If you're not going to say something about your food, your server isn't going to know, so if there's something wrong with it. Tell them and tell them what it is they can do to fix it (though they should offer it themselves). The kitchen and the server may be pushed back by fixing whatever it is, but you're the one paying for the service. They're not going to get all bitter and spit and whatever in your food. You pay for their service. If they were an ass about it, tell a manager and don't tip.
Just keep in mind that if the restaurant is packed and busy, it'll take time to remake your food/drink whatever it is.
Answer:
if the foods arent up to your standards, as in theres bugs or something wrong with it, give it back and dont pay. if they give you a hard time, then complain to the manager. you shouldnt be paranoid about it. also, you shouldnt have to pay for food that is messed up.
Answer:
well at the restaurant i work at part time they don't spit in your food if you return it, but personally i think (tho i have not experienced it first hand) that unless the customer makes unnecessary demands on the chefs there is no reason for them to spit into your food, etc. for example, once a customer returned the food coz she said it wasn't thoroughly cooked and it was true so the chefs replaced it and apologised. or if the waiter made a mistake on the dishes ordered it's fine. but if the customer is being an idiot and insisting that he ordered sth when he clearly didn't, or that the food isn't fresh when it bloody hell is then don't be surprised if the chef gets pissed off and decides to add extra ingredients. it's human nature.
Answer:
i have once and only because they got my order wrong. if it's something minor like a drink or something..then i won't complain.
Answer:
but if there's a fly in your soup, I think you should definitely complain about it.
I wouldn't unless they got my order wrong or if I found something in my food
Answer:
I found a strand of hair in my dish of spaghetti once. I didn't want to make a big deal about it but my cousin complained to one of the waiters and he offered to give me a free drink.
If your complaint is reasonable enough, I'm pretty sure the staff won't do anything mean to you.
Answer:
if you dont complain, just dont tip then. i remember i went to a restaurant and a couple of my friends ordered drinks. I ordered coke and the other ordered dr. pepper. She brought the drinks out and didnt know which was coke or dr. pepper, so she sipped one and said ok, this one is dr. pepper and gave it to my friend...lol.
Answer:

omg, that is gross! i've sometimes mixed up drinks (i.e. coke, diet coke, root beer), I just go back and redo it again.
and no, don't do that not tipping thing because your server won't know there was something wrong, but will just think you're cheap. tell them, and if they're a prick about it, then don't tip. at least they'll have a basis on why you didn't.
Answer:
i went out for breakfast with a friend, and when their toast came out, it had a fly smashed agasint one of them. it was really revolting~ when we told the waitress, she just sorta looked at us, and asked if we wanted a new plate... -.-;; not going back there again.
Answer:
yeah! i would return a dish if it wasnt up to par...or if there was a bug/hair/other nasty stuff in it. if they bring it back & its even worse or if the waiter/waitress is rude about it, sucks for them bcos they aint getting no tip! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) . they're job as a restaurant is to serve you and make you a satisfied customer, if not, bad business.
Answer:
I would be careful at Chinese restaurants (and most Asian restaurants). One time at a HK cafe, they made a steak with the wrong sauce for my cousin. My cousin ate a small corner of the steak to test if it was acceptable and it wasn't. So she complained to the waitress and the waitress took it back. Minutes later, the waitress came back out with the steak and proper sauce. Problem was, it was the same steak only rinsed out with new sauce put on top. The steak had the corner cut out.
Answer:
^ eeee. hate wasting food i guess. i understand why they did it but it's still wrong to do it.
i think we've done that for a couple of dishes at real chinese food places... because my dad always complains (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) but i get creeped out from the dish they replaced. there is a good chane that they will spit in it if you act really snooty to them. @_@
i remember this customer who found a hair in his dish.. i had to go back in and tell them. they just dumped the whole dish down the trashcan and made a new one.... when many people would just pick the hair out of the dish.
Answer:
are you sure it was new? she probably just scoped the fly out and reheated the soup to make it look new.
Answer:
if you say there is a bug in your food / soup
they will just bring back the same food and pretend it's a new one
one time I was eating in a Mexican restaurant and the soda tasted like soap so I complained to the waitress, and she took a sip off the same straw I used and said: your right it does taste like soap? and she gave us a new drink and didnt charge us for it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
Answer:
my bf is a vegetarian and he ordered a dish with no meat. there was ham in it. We requested it to be replaced, and when the dish comes back, I could tell that they jsut took the ham out. Ugh.
