How Do You Explain This?

Question:
My wife told me this one about her experience. I don't know if it was true or not but it really scared me. She said one night while we were sleeping she felt our bed move and thought it was me. But then she wanted to grab me to just make sure but she could'nt move. She opened her eyes and there I was facing her with my eyes wide open moving my mouth very fast but not saying anything. So she is there all paralyzed while I have my eyes wide open and talking with no sounds coming out. This goes on for like 10 seconds and then I close my eyes and stop moving my mouth and she is able to move again and starts to scream. I don't remember any of this but she stated that when she started to scream I told her to shut up. I am a deep sleeper. I have no trouble sleeping through a thunder storm...but I think she was having a bad nightmare though.
Told by a young man in his 20's.
I thought this was really creepy. I could imagine a wife with long black hair and me opening my eyes and seeing them wide open and talking in a devil's tongue. hoohoo..~

Answer:
Oh god. Just when those stories in class were fading. Anyway, my friends of a different ethnic Asian group were speaking of this, they told me and my class it was an old man grabbing you or something. I was so paranoid later. O_o;

the same thing happened to me and my older brother, but only the bed shaking part. it was about 5-7 yrs ago and me and my family were on vacation in vietnam. we were staying at my uncle's house and there were graves in the backyard and the bed we were sleeping on was right next to the window facing the backyard. late at night the bed started shaking and i thought i was jus dreaming but then i realize i was awake and my brother woke up too. we laid there for like a few minutes and then the shaking disappeared.
Answer:
that happened to me once. it was scarrrrrryyy!!!!!1 my eyes are wide open, staring in the dark. i want to cover my head with my covers, because i hate staring out in the room...but i realize i couldnt move..so i was FORCED to stare at whats in frotn of me. it was horrible.
Answer:
Whoa, that's creepy.
But I have experienced the sleep paralysis one too many times. It's really frightening! Once, I laid there for what felt like forever and I tried so hard to move just a finger. I couldn't move, I couldn't even open my mouth. Finally, a piece of my hair fell from my face and suddenly, I was able to move again. At first, I thought it was a dream but it isn't. There was one time in particular after experiencing the sleep paralysis, I stood up and tried to kick something and ended up kicking the remote control. I woke up the next morning and the remote control was on the other side of the room.
Only my brother and I experience that in the family. I don't know what to think of it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
Answer:
When I was 5 or 6, I experienced something like that before.
I had a nightmre about ghosts and when I woke up, I felt a heavy weight on my chest. I tried to move but I couldn't and when I opened my mouth to scream for my parents, I couldn't say anything.
It was weird.
Answer:
This happen to me LOTS of time. But the most recent one was freaky. I remember it was a guy voice circling my head and kept on repeating lalalallalLLLAAAlalalallalLLAAAA
I couldn't move nor scream at all.
But that mostly happen when I sleep later than my normal time -____-
Scary, I tell ya.
Answer:
That has happened to me a few times when I'm stressed, but only for a few seconds. Can't move my body when I wake up but I just force my brain to respond and it works.

Answer:
see, everything can be explained with science.... tsk tsk
Answer:
I've had experiences a few times but the bed never shakes. It's just when I'm half asleep and half awake and this feeling comes over me where I'm paralysed and can't speak. It goes away after like a minute. First I thought it was a ghost and all that but it can be explained (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sweatingbullets.gif) Also, it only happens to me when I sleep lying on my back so I try not to sleep like that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

gawd. that's creepy... that's never happened to anyone in my house though.. i hope it won't happen in the future either..
-o-;
Answer:
whoa! those all are freaky..id be terrified if some old man was choking me
Answer:
It's because when you sleep your body sends down some kind of fluids in your body to make it paralysed or something like that.
And this stuff usually occurs when you're REALLY tired/stressed then you start hallucinating.
It's all hallucination!!
At first I thought the stuff happening to me were dreams.. so I thought it was REAAALLLY cool... Then I read that thing on Wikipedia and I realised this stuff is actually happening to me for real. Then I got scared and made myself not have it.
I can kind of feel it coming on... but I jerk myself before I fall into sleep paralysis. I'm scared of it now.
The scariest one was when I couldn't move and then there was a guy just laughing at me and telling me everyone knows or some crap like that. Then I felt this huge weight on me, then like a hovering sound [like some alien ray pressing on top of me, coming past me.]
Freakiest experience of my life.
Answer:
that's happened to me a lot...I feel it when it happens...usually at home though for some reason. According to science...it's sleep paralysis...Between Stage I and Stage II sleep...most people have those so-called alien abductions...hallucinations during this.
My first one was when I was taking a nap in the afternoon...I know i was half awake because I still heard my dad talking to our neighbor outside my window (I live in the garage lol). I was sleeping and then I felt someone sit on my leg and someone pressing me down by my arms (i was sleeping with my arms over my head), then I just kept seeing htis bright green light like moving towards me back and forth (it sounded like a fridge humming) and I was so scared..I tried to scream but nothing came out..so I just struggled against it for a while and nothing happened...so I just kept repeating the lord's prayer in my head and then it eventually faded away. Then I cried and went upstairs to my mom hahaha...but yea i'm hoping it was a hallucination.
This stuff happened to me a lot last year...a few times in my dorm but mostly at home. And once when I was on vacation in England..that was the scariest one..I saw like little child devils like pulling at me..I started crying and I woke my mom up lol.
And well it happened to me once when I was having a sleepover with my best friend...and I felt my entire body shaking like..everything was shaking..but when I woke up..she was beside me the whole time watching TV..and I asked her if anything was shaking and if I was screaming..and she said no..you were just sleeping.
THis is all explained by science though..sleep paralysis it's called and it happens between when you're asleep and you're awake. Actually when people are in REM sleep..they are actually paralyzed...you just don't know it cuz ur in deep sleep.

Yea sometimes I felt it coming and I would wake myself up and force myself to sit up for awhile before going back to sleep cuz you just don't want to feel it.
Answer:
for me it happens normally when my sleeping schedule is messed up or when im just reallt tired and stressed. i can't move but my eyes are wide open, and i can't scream, or talk. but i wiggle my toes which in fact for some odd reason are able to move. and then i'm able to move again =] its nothing really freaky.

Answer:
happens to me a ton (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) , haha i'm like ok i was just paralyzed *goes back to sleep*
Just try really hard to move some limb and youll get out of it. Then just turn over on your side and keep on sleeping, otherwise it'll come back a few more times.
