^ sorry to disappoint you but I don't have a real recommendation. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) The only recommendation is exactly what you've already said... yesasia sells region free DVD players.
Cuz for me personally, I'd just buy a Norcent DVD player that can playback divx/xvid. That way you can watch most of your divx/xvid movies without having to waste time convert anything. Not only is it faster, but you also don't degrade the quality. You can also flash it to make it region free by downloading the file, burning it onto CD and playing it in the player to run the program. It can upsample the picture to 1080i for those with HDTVs. But obviously this requires some researching on google and more work than what some people want to invest into their players.
But the real reason why I cannot make a good recommendation is cuz I always make a copy of the original DVD... and in the process I strip away all the copy protections plus I make the copy region free. Hence I really don't NEED a region free DVD player at all since I make all my copies region free already. But that's just me... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
