Question:
how many of you guys actually replace your ipods etc, and digital cameras with your cellphones?
the reason im asking is because i just recently got the chocolate phone and many ppl are sayin that the features are not up to par with some phones.....but i thought that it truthfully doesnt apply to me because i use my ipod and powershot camera more rather than my phone.
So i guess that its merely a luxury rather than necessity for some people to have high end phones, or do you guys truthfully actually use the photo/mp3 capabilities of your phones?
I mean do we really need the best phones with the best of features...or are we just overpaying? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
Answer:
i use mine for mp3 but not photos. even with a 2MP camera on your cell phone, the quality of the image still isnt as great as if you were to use a digital camera.
Answer:
^
Agreed.
But a 2 megapixel is considered not bad for a normal cellphone..
I think we're kinda over paying sometimes...
We're just normal poeple with normal lives.
If we really get a phone with 5megapixels, how much help is it going to do?
I agree its cool. But professional photographers uses those good cameras not cellphone cam.
And what can we do with 5megapixel? Cam whore?
mp3 player... I think thats alright..
But a dica fixed into a phone.. I think its kind of wayyy too off.
just my two cents. no bashings please.
Answer:
phones in korea right now have 7 and 10 megapixel, and in some cases, far better photo quality than the digital cameras out on the market right now!
samsung brought out the world's first 10 megapixel camera phone couple months ago.

i heard about that and i read that many ppl are biased towards it.....
quote i found on the web -
Thats completely true; Camera marketers obsess about the 'megapixels' of the sensor without mentioning that any given lens has a maximum resolution. This is determined by many factors, such as it's quality of manufacture, diameter, geometry and current shooting conditions.
You can enhance the sensor all you want, but a crappy little lens (like on a camera that gets stuffed into your pocket and covered in lint, sweat etc.) There is no way even the tiny sensor in this camera will perform to it's potential.
Still. People believe in megapixels. The fact that this cameraphone has the same number of megapixels as my Nikon D200 will certainly appeal to some!
besides how much megapixels does an average person really need?
Answer:
^^^ i saw a camera fone taht had a 7 megapixel camera...but the lens wasn't just a tiny thing...it was an actual lense with zoom and stuff...so the qualit of the lens was actually decent....i dunno y ud need 7 megapixels i agree but they might improve the lens on the fone to be more like an actual camera
Answer:
if you will just camwhore, 2mp on a regular camera is enough.
The size, technology and price of phones with good cameras and lenses would be too expensive and I'd much rather buy a phone, mp3 and digicam all seperately. Which i've already done =P
Answer:
i use all of my phones functions, i mean i have a 1gig sd card, so i use it as a mp3 player and i have a couple of mvs, family guys and some full movies. true the 2MP camera is not as good as a regular digital camera, but if you use the 240x320 size the resolution is pretty good, i use them for webposts and etc.
Answer:
mm i dont know anyone who has replaced a digital camera and a mp3lpayer with a single cellphone.. i replaced my all in one phone with a very good mp3player.. (easier to connect to pc imo).

so you think that we are overpaying in a sense?
Answer:
I use my phone now as a current mp3 player while i look for a mp3 player i really like. As for the camera, i don't like taking photos much so it doesn't really bother me, My phone has a 2 MP camera so if something cool happens then i take photos, other than that, me and photos aren't really good friends =)
Answer:
no i don't use my phone in lieu of a camera and mp3 player because it just doesn't suffice
Answer:
it doesn't replace it, but very convenient and it's with you. most of the time im just taking pictures with friends anyway, haha. i bring my camera for events or planning to take a lot of pictures. and i have an mp3 player already. just the thing that im scared of is if you lose your phone, then it'll be like losing your mp3 player and camera.
Answer:
I do. I have the w800 which only has 2mp but it's good enough for me. I have a large memory stick so I can store all my songs and use it instead of my mp3 player. It also has the radio. so yeah..i do use those functions.
i kinda want a better camera though..i really do like taking pics
Answer:
I just sold my 30 gig ipod video because I never use it any more. Its just sitting here collecting dusty. I have a 3.2 mp 904sh that takes good enough pictures for me, and I'm getting a w810 which would be good replacement for my mp3 player.
Vannuska, perhaps you might want to get the SE k790 when it comes out. 3.2 mp but I have to stay the sharp 903 and 904 camera are still the best.
Theres a phone that has 6mp something Xcute Dv something.
Answer:
I think cellphones havent reached the point where they replace mp3 players and cameras yet. A cellphone with 30gb of storage and a 5 megapixel camera (with optical zoom and a large lens) would suffice to make mp3 players and cameras obsolete ONLY if its affordable and stylish (with a great interface, and portable size).
Answer:
MP3 player yes, camera's no. I have a Sony Ericsson P910 with a 2GB stick, upgraded from a Sony Ericsson P800 with a 128MB stick, and those are the only MP3 players I've ever owned. I am planning to get a W950 (4GB onboard memory) when it comes out. It is just very easy to add more memory to a phone and I can just see memory capacity on phones to just keep going up.
For cameras. Looking at the market, cameras on phones will just never be on par with regular cameras. Forget about megapixels, the lens and the sensor is where it's at. For me, I'm planning to get into more serious photography this summer so taking pics on a phone is just not an option for me for ANY situation. But again, camera phones would be great for whiny schoolboy/schoolgirls/kids which it was originally targeted for.
And yes I do think the chocolate phone or whatever it is is over-rated. Very, very over-rated.
Answer:
^ Lawl I agrer with choco phone being overrated.
If you take taking camera seriously than yeah, camera phone isn't the way. Unless you just like to take fun shots or interesting shot, not as a professional or something. The reason why they made phones like this so we don't have to carry all these stuff in our pockets.
Answer:
when Im going somewhere far and know there be nice scenery and somethings gonna be memorable, i'll def use the cam (duh (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ). ipod for when i go on trips, far trips.. phone is a everyday thing, so when something pops up that you might see anymore, you use the camera. or when you're bored, you'll play mp3. like at work -- for me. haha.
