Question:
my computer is filled with pop ups now because i accidentally clicked on one of those 'free* xbox' ads... before, i would never get any pop ups and now theres like 20 every 2 minutes.... its freaking annoying, and ive downloaded some random pop up blockers but its not helping... i dont want to reformat my computer, theres too many things saved into it that i need and it would take too long to save on a floppy or memory stick or something... so what can i do to fix this?
Answer:
Firefox is you friend else use the google toolbar that helps too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Oh and also download Ad-Aware the free one it helps allot! It delete's all the junk and other crap you got on the comp.

Firefox's extension Adblock/Adblock Plus is super good.

I feel for you. Adware is a pain in the butt.
Since you've already tried the stuff above, try out Spybot S&D. It's another remover program. (http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html)
Try scanning with that. (Becareful when you delete registries)
Another method is using HiJackThis program. (May be a little too advanced)
A time consuming method is a Proccess Explorer to find out what's running on your comp and look for unwanted stuff. (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html)
If all that didn't help much, try running your computer in Safe Mode (during the beginning boot of your comp tap F8 every few seconds and then you should be able to choose safe mode) and then use all your adware remover programs again.
If all else fails, beat the living hell out of your computer and cry in a corner. Uh, I strongly do not recomment this method. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sweatingbullets.gif)
I'm tired. Peace.
Answer:
floppy? wow... that would take forever.. hmm well just use spy bot,ad aware and firefox , oh! and it wouldnt hurt to dll a free anti virus too! umm just dll the one with the highest rate and if that doesnt work then just resort to the good old CD burning , im pretty sure you have a CD burner, CD-r are real cheap now adays and it usually comes with bundles , ummm 100 for 10 bucks ? or you can geta 50 for 7 bucks, not sure but it shouldnt be more than 20 dollars =] , thats gonna take forever if wat you said about your files is true but i guess its better than losing your files right ? XD just make sure you dll the stuff i told you to =]

Answer:
Definately use Spybot - Search and Destroy. Ad-aware is also decent. But more importantly, use HijackThis! like HyunIX suggested. Scan, put a checkmark next to everything you don't recognise then hit Fix Checked. Obviously you want to leave alone programs like MS Messenger if you use it... plus the software for your scanners/printers etc etc. Alot of spyware have obvious names so it shouldn't be too hard. Also anything that has a seemingly random filename is either a trojan or spyware so get rid of them too (for example, weird filenames like xxyqwr.exe).
Once you stop all those spyware from auto-loading, rescan and see if any of them come back. The ones that come back are most likely still in memory so you'll have to bring up the Task Manager and End Task on them. Once you stop as much of those spywares from auto-loading as you can, THEN run Spybot - Search and Destroy to do the dirty work of cleaning up your system. Most spyware infections can be defeated by following the steps above.
Once your system is clean, do yourself a favor... dump Internet Explorer and switch over to Firefox. All your bookmarks will be automatically transfered over so it's painless (although keep in mind your bookmarks will transfer over in alphabetical order).
