Winamp is a better alternative to Windows Media Player, but I like having everything in one place so I watch videos on it too, therefore its my default player.
WMP takes up a lot of memory but I think its easier to do things on it such as rename files...on winamp you have to right click and ..takes too long.
If you do plan to use Winamp to watch videos, DON'T. It lags so much. Well at least for me.

winamp you have to download. it's not one of the default player. I don't know how to make playlist on WMP but I know for winamp. Before you make a playlist, you should load all your songs so you can make playlist. You need to have playlist editor open(Alt+E), the on bottom you see four buttons. Click on misc, then go down to misc then click on generated html. a webpage will pop up that list all the songs you have on your playlists. Then save that as your playlist. You can name whatever you want.
If you wish to share your playlists with others without having to send them the file, just upload to a host like tripod or webpost.net
