Question:
can you guys give me recommendations? i want to dl a free software that i can use to burn the videos that i dl online onto CDs so my mom can watch them on tv
also, are there blank CDs that i can buy that are rewritable or are all CDs one time use?
about how many hrs can a single CD hold generally?
Answer:
You should get a DivX DVD Player and just burn the AVI's you download onto the CD directly.
That'll prob work better than burning in VCD format.
Answer:
^thanks =) where can i get it?
what kind of CDs do i need to buy? ive used blank CDs before to make a mp3 CD..can i use the same ones to make DVDs?
are there rewritable DVD CDs?
Answer:
Yes there are rewriteable CD's and DVD's. They're a bit more expensive and slower though. Usually, an hour worth of video is around 700MB, which is what a CD holds, but it differs depending on quality.
It would be much easier to buy a DiVX DVD player and just burn data CD's. But if you don't want to, check out videohelp.com to convert movies in to readable forms.
Answer:
Yeah. Like everyone said. It would probably be easier to buy a divx player. I know Philips has on that you can get from like Best Buy. With that you can burn .avi files you get online to a cd and just watch it straight. If not then u'll have to convert it to a vcd. To do that u could use a program called avi2dvd, which is free.
Answer:
^how much is the vidx player? what is it called exactly? so if i use that i can burn my .avi's onto CDs and watch them on my DVD player right?
how long would it take for me to make a 700MB .avi to a DVD through avi2dvd?
thanks for the help (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Answer:
Ask to move this to help/troubleshooting before it gets closed.
Click a few pages back... might be more than a few but there was a thread discussing those Divx stand alone units. Burn aVI onto disk put in and play yup.
Video conversion is great but time consuming. Basically ties your computer up for few hours.
Avi2dvd worse case is too long. P4 1.8ghz is about 2hr movie takes 2 hours. 2.6ghz and above is about 1hr for 2hr movie. I think I hit 15minutes for 1.5hour on my current computer to make a VCD.
