Question:
Hey
I'm curious about what korean cellphone brands work in the us...
Sky? Innostream?
What about japanese cellphones?
Please mention some brands... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Thanks!
Answer:
korean phones work with verizon wireless and only the sk telecom phones because they are on the same bandwidth. however it takes some tweaking to get the phones to work here, and since verizon forbids phones that are not of their company to be used with their service, technically using korean phones is illegal. however it's not like something you can get caught obviously and it is possible, but not that many korean cell phone shops do it anymore. if you go to koreatown, there are still a few shops that can use korean phones here but it's kind of pointless since you would only be able to send limited forms of text messages [no mms] and call people... can't go on-line, can't use dmb, etc. imo people who use korean phones here are being shallow and wasting their money.
you can use some japanese phones [only from vodaphone i think] in the u.s. on the gsm networks like t-mobile and cingular. if you google unlocked phones then i'm sure you could find a lot. check out gsmarena.com for gsm phones. popular gsm phones are sony ericsson w800 [or the new w810i] and samsung d600 and lots of nokias too. if you're using cingular, make sure the cell phone you're getting is quadband.

Answer:
Cell phones from SK Telecom will work for sure.
I read that there's an ESN on the back of the cell phone battery, and you can use that to connect with Verizon.
I think most SKY phones are connected by SKT, so they'll work.
But, SKY phones has a lot of flaws.
My mom is in Korea right now, and I told her specifically to get a SK Telecom cell phone so we can use it in America, but she ended up getting KTF.
LOL.
I saw the phone, and it's sooooooo cool looking, but I hope SOMEHOW it'll work in the US!
Answer:

Answer:
Can somebody please teach me how to get my phone running? Where exactly in Korea Town should I bring it to? Do I go to Verizon, or somewhere else... and where is it located, where is it near? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions. ;_;
