Asking A Guy Out To A Dance

Question:
Okay so prom is like 3 months away at my school && people are already talking about their dates (those with boyfriends/girlfriends).
Gets me kind of excited and depressed (maybe an over-exaggration).
I've had my eye on this guy for some time. I've known him since I was in sixth grade, we use to hang out all the time. And I know I'll have a good time, I've always had a good time hang out with him. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Also, there's a couple other guys I've considered, one's a friend, best friend, etc. maybe asking either of them to prom if it comes down to it.
But I was wondering....
  • what are some ways to ask a guy out or anyone in general?...guys what would you want a girl to do? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
  • if you've asked someone/been asked out in a special way would you care to share? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Answer:
I asked one of my guy friends to prom junior year. Basically, I freaked out at the prom committee meeting when everyone else freaked out that I didn't have a date and prom was two weeks away. So I excused myself, grabbed my cell phone, and frantically called him to ask him. It was utterly unromantic and rude. But...he said yes, like I knew he would. His friends had all told me he'd been in love with me since we were fourteen, so even though I felt bad asking someone I wasn't interested in and worried about leading him on, it turned out fine. He still teases me for asking him so abruptly. But I went to a small Catholic school--there was really no selection of guys.

Answer:
If it's just to ask a guy to prom, I think you can just ask him directly.. right?
I don't know about asking a guy out though. Haha. Never experienced that yet. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Answer:
Oh, I get depressed too! lol. JK. I think I'm going single unless someone asks me, which is not likely. But I'll have fun!! As for ideas.. sorry, I'm not good at that.
Answer:
To be honest... I don't think guys are that much into the elaborate plots to ask them to dances and such. Just ask him straight up. I asked my friend about this and he said he would be embarrassed if a girl asked him to a dance in a crazy way.
Answer:
i thought guys are supposed to ask for prom??
Answer:
I was like you last year! hehe... I made a list of who I should ask. But then it came down to only one guy. I wanted it to be cute so I took my time to plan out what to do. We went out for dinner one night and then went up on the mountain to see the city view at night. I told him to stay in the car because I have a surprise for him. I had a big plastic basket on top of the car trunk. Inside there were cookies letters that spell out will u go 2 prom with me? surround it were candles and these clear marble thingie. So when I was done lighting up the candles, I made him go out of the car with his eyes closed. I lead him to the back of the car and told him to open his eyes. hehehe I remember he was so surprise and happy. He look at me with a big smile and said, yes, yes, yes! lol He said it was the sweetest thing a girl ever did for him. So yeah...that's my story. Good luck! =)
Answer:
i first asked a guy out to a dance in gr6(holy molly that's already TWO YEARS ago for me)
i consider this brave since i did it directly
i had the crush on the guy for 4 years
i just walked up to him(plus my friends were encouraging me) and asked him
he blushed and put his hands in his pockets
i still don't know what that means soooooooooo
+don't be discouraged if you are rejected
Answer:
I think the easiest thing to do is when starting out is by going out as a group date. Get some of your friends + get some guys = much more fun, no more awkwardness. You can save all that coupling later when you get to know each other more.
Answer:
haha i actually got asked out by a girl to prom.. verry similar to your situation. just a friend that i know i'd have fun with, and we did lol. well it doesnt take much.. just ask him if he has a date or anyone in mind, and if no, just simply ask him. well thats how it happened for me lol. well good luck.
