I'll start with this: Im plain white.Plain canadian.
I started Taekwon do only yesterday and there was this asian guy at my school.
I don't really know him,but we meeted at a parent's meeting where we were selling cakes [with friends of mine and other people in my school] for prom.
Anyways,he knew i liked DBSK an asian music for sure because i have jewelery from them and things.
And before saying this,i have to tell im a big paranoiac.
So i thought at first it was just me,but just me is driving me crazy.
Today,he was eating with his friends [wich are most asians] And he waved me Hi and all that nice stuff.
But later,as they were talking [me and friends were besides them],i heared one of them says Im like so asian in a joke
But,..i felt really aimed.
I thought he was making fun of me,.. but,
Im far from people or otakus that stalks asians at their school or are obsessed with mangas,shouting out loud every japanese sentence they learn.And wish,deep down their hearts they were asians.
Im okay with being white,what's the problem if i like asian things?!

maybe he didn't mean it towards you, but if he did then its nothing you should worry about.
honestly, people want so much to bury racism, break barriers and open cultures to other people, but its those same people that are the ones who keep the barriers up. This coming from my own experience as well.
So IMO just be who you are, and like what you want to like, and if someone makes fun of you for it, then who cares, because there are hundreds of other people who will like you for it, and those are the people that matter.

They pretend they're japanese and they call each other NAME-chan and it's really annoying because they really know nothing about japanese culture besides what they read in mangas and what they watch in anime.

there used to be this white guy at school a grade older than me.
our group was pretty multicultural so we had wogs, asians, and a black dude and he was the only white guy in the group. one day he would act all black and wannabe, the next his into asia bigtime. behind his back we called him panda (asian, white and black) which was pretty mean. but he was definitely overboard and seemed confused with his identity.
