I like this friend of mine but I know he does not feel the same way about me. I feel sad but I don't hate him. I still care for him. Also, I know he will be leaving to another country. For the rest of our lives, we might never see each other again. I just want to get him a Goodbye present. But my friends said, why you are so stupid and why should you be so nice to him? He doesn't like you so if I were you, I will not care
Do you guys think my friends are right?
I don't want to feel regret not giving him a Goodbye present, knowing the rest of our lives, we might not see each other again.
My friends said I am too caring and loving; this world is not like me, too naive and nice.
Are they right? Please tell me what you think.

Are you kidding me? Your friends are stupid! Just because he doesn't like you, they don't want you to like him?!?! Above all you're still Friends! And thats what counts! Friendship is the most important thing here, so what if he doesn't have romantic feelings towards, he still wants to be friends! And so give him a goodbye gift, as a form of friendship, at least you'll have some sort of relationship, even if just friends.

The reason why my friends are too rough because they had a hard time in love in the past and I feel their hearts turned cold to the world after those unfortunate experiences. I feel sad seeing that. I hope I will never become like that.

Good idea, babii_gurl. The problem is, he doesnot have a winter jacket. I promised him long ago I will buy him one. So, I still want to keep my promise. May be I buy him a winter jacket as I promised, plus what you said, a friendship forever sign. It would be clear to him I am cool about our mutual, unconditional friendship. How does that sound?

Well... to be honest, it depends on the circumstances. If in the beginning I confessed to my friend, got rejected, and we agreed to stay as friends, of course I'll still be nice to them! I don't know about the future. However, I do know he still has my previous presents. He even said he will keep them forever. The reason he could not accept my love is because he does not want a long distance relationship. I don't know if it were an excuse or not; only him and God would know. So, I don't know if he would throw my presents or not...
