Question:
I'm curious as to how not alone I am in this situation.
You and a friend (or classmate) like each other, are attracted to each other, but nothing happens beyond playing handsy if the other person isn't slightly tipsy or totally drunk.
You likely intimidate the other person, but they've figured out a way to circumvent it with alcohol. And strangely, you (while remaining completely sober) tend to find this person more appealing when they are a little drunk.
But to complicate things, you & this person are not dating. It's not really public knowledge that you've essentially hooked up either. This person has even said that they prefer to maintain a business vs. pleasure separation.
This is just one more common aspect of human nature, right?

honestly, i would have brought it up with something like what exactly happened between us last night? maybe it's just me, but i think i'd be worst not knowing whether or not this is a being drunk issue, or i'm lonely but i don't want a commitment issue __
Answer:
Things like that happen all the time. Time and time again people will blame the alcohol for their actions. It doesn't really have to be a big issue unless one or the other makes it one. That's when things can potentially become awkward.
Answer:
i totally understand...its happening right now with my coworker. when were sober we're playful and flirty but dont do anything beyond that. But when we hang out and alcohol is involved we actually hook up. we dont really talk about it the next day...and its happened more than once. the first time i ignored him but later was more comfortable around him again....now we pretend like its nothing special, like we do it all the time. were just friends...righht? i think its better to keep it professional....but it really is confusing...since neither of us want anything more. but theres totally nothing wrong with a buck fuddy. no strings!!
Answer:
Before we hooked up, that's how I found out my guy liked me. We went out to a club and he got pretty tipsy... we just started touching and holding hands alot... I took that as a sign. So when he dropped me off that night, I just gave him a really quick peck on the lips and ran like hell!
We're a couple now, and have been for 4 months now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Answer:

doesn't sound like a future real relationship
Answer:
dont get it
but ppl are different when drunk v. being drunk if they act one way being drunk it could jsut be them being drunk and maybe when they are out of it they might not even remember what happened

i dont drink. im the one who's always sober. based on the available data (er i mean, what's happened btwn us & when & where), alcohol is a definitely a permission slip, a trigger for him....
aish. well...i'm glad to know that im not alone in this permutation of behavior.
on the flip side, im not comfortable with more than handsy unless the lights are off...mostly b/c i like the dark, but also b/c i dont want to see anything.
