Question:
Let's say.. you go to school. Do you spot out all the asians? Do you think your choices are limited because of the not-so-plentiful amount of asians?
I was sitting in class today.. imagining myself as the white girl who sits in front of me. She was kind of talking/flirting with this other white guy. I don't think it's easy for others to tell that she likes him.. but what if it's the rare asian girl flirting with the rare asian guy? it is just so obvious, isn't it? even if the asian girl doesn't like the asian guy.. other non-asians would think that something is going on.
i wonder how does it feel go be part of the majority.. where the schools you go to are mostly asians instead of mostly whites, blacks, mexicans, and/or other races.. where you would see a whole bunch of asians when you go out in public.
sorry.. i have never attended an all asian school and i live in america, not asia. (for those who have)

Well...through elementary/middle/highschool/and now university...there's been a fair amount of asians. I live in Canada btw...and especially now that I go to U of T, there's tons and tons of asian people. So I guess it's not really an issue for me if someone thinks I'm flirting or not o.O
But people flirt all the time so I don't think it's THAT obvious if 2 people of the same race are flirting with each other. I mean, at least I don't notice that type of thing.

I go to a pretty much all white school in hawaii.. seriously, there's only 2 full-blooded asian kids in the junior class, me being one of them.
most of my friends go to a school that's like 90% asian though _ and I wonder the same thing as you..
weird thing is I'm such a minority at my school... but when I step off campus, everybody at my school is more of a minority.. haha

i go to a white-dominated school. when you walk in the halls at my school, no one notices the asians. they kinda just stick their head down and i would say that most, if not all, of them are nerdy, etc. either that or they're really whitewashed so you don't even notice they're asian. but that's just my school..
yeah i wonder how it feels like to be part of a majority. i think life would be a little better. (because i'll know more people that i have things in common - such as strict parents, the buddhist religion, etc)
i don't really know where i belong. i'm too whitewashed for my asian friends. and to white people, i'm just a minority. =/

well i'm white. well mostly. .. but a lot of people at my school [i graduated last year] knew i liked asian guys. at my school there were like NO asians. my 1st boyfriend was korean and he went to my school for 1 year as an exchange student, but my current is not from my school area, he's from boston area.
but anyways; even if i talked to one of the rare asians in my school people would think we were going out or something, which was way annoying.
so yeah being the majority race sometimes doesn't matter.

I live in a school district that's almost all Asian (Vietnamese to be exact). it doesn't really bother cause I've lived here in this area for almost 10 years. BTW, just to let you know not everyone who speaks Spanish is Mexican. the term Hispanic or Latino would've been better to use.

Yeah...there are plenty of Asians in my area too, and I also live in Canada. You see Asians everywhere, and there are plenty in universities across Canada. Nobody will care less who flirts or not...since it's so common over here.

i live in canada and the majority of my high school is asian. like 70%, maybe more. when i was a kid, i thought asians were the majority everywhere in the world. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)
i can't really imagine being the minority. i don't think anyone notices who flirts with who. and in the end, it doesn't really matter what other people think (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

wow the school I go to has a LOT of asians. in fact.. wikipedia says the high school in the area has 77% asians. haha lots of choices!

In my High school, everyone was pretty much asian (mostly Chinese). everyone else is a minority (indian, caucausian, etc).
in my university, the racial distribution is a more even (mostly white, but significant # of indians and chnese).

our school is 45% asian... and n0t all white canadian are aware of the tradition and culture--they think that asian are really conservative, so if they see tw0 asian(girl-b0y) walking 2gether in the hallways, they will assume that something is g0ing on... even though all the asian students kn0w that they are siblings 0r something n0t dating it really happened

My school is like 50% Asian...practically, haha. Asians everywhere. In fact I'm the only white girl in my math class. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sweatingbullets.gif) I'm attracted to and prefer Asian guys though so it's great for me. All the Asians here pretty much hang out together and talk to each other, so it's hard to apply the situation you're talking about to my school. But if a white girl like me was talking to as Asian guy...I don't think anyone would think anything, just because white girls and Asian guys together is in general pretty rare...

There's not even 20 asians at my school. The statistics show that there are .07% asians in the ENTIRE DISTRICT!!!
