Well, i was asked to write an essay on the topic arranged marriage VS free love, SO if anyone wants to share their insights or stoories. also keep in mind that arranged marraiges in the past are different to now adays, in the past your forced to marry someone, now a days, the elders introduce you to them,...and wait for your approval. I want opinions on both traditional and modern!
As for arranged marriages
pros
-the divorce rates are lower
-the couple ususaly get 100% support from families (financially and emotionally)
-the couple can fall in love after marriage (common, korean drama. haha)
cons
-abusive spouse, possibly
-Its either a win or lose, either you end up loving them or hating them.. if its hate, then your life will never be happy
And as for dating and finding your own spouse
pros
-you get to choose who you want to date, and then eventually propose and marry.
cons
-You might just be infatuated, totally head over heels and not notice the faults in your relationship
-your boyfriend/girlfriend may be acting like someone else in order to appeal to you, and once you get married they reveal the ‘real’ them. And that’s when the divorce enters the picture.
-you will need time to convince your parents, what if you fall in love with some gangster biker guy, or some bimbo…

being happy is than the chance of being happy. you're not garunteed happiness in anything, but the chance of you being happy is greater when you chose what YOU want to do, instead of someone else picking for you. I mean really, when you're old enough to marry, you're old enough to marry, meaning you're old enough to make your own choice, whether it be right or wrong. marriage is a serious thing, its not a game, marriage is suppose to be FOREVER. you have a long time before you have to stick with FOREVER.

Marriage is like sacred. While, used to be. Now people treat it like a game. Oh wells.
It's like a another stage of their relationship where couples in love can bring their love to another phrase.
Marriage is like a whole new phrase in life, and its very important to whom your other half is.
Chances of a whole new korean drama happening is quite slim.
Why torture yourself to go hopefully through a sterotypical drama then miss out all the fun on going on dates with you love one?
It is actually the process of dating that strengthens your love therefore having enough confidence to bring it to another level where you can actually live with this person and spend the rest of your life with him or her forever.
And the dating and finding your own spouse is just another part in life that we shouldn't miss out.
If it doesn't work out, then divorce. At least you know you've experience it before.
