I've dated some chicks who were taller than me by an inch or two.
I'm about 5'9 so they were 5'10 or 5'7 with heels and crap. It's not bother since I have no problem with it. Sometimes guys and girls will stare but I think it's because they were hot or I was appealing to them.

I think it depends on the guy. I've seen guys who wear timberlands or shoes that make them taller for the specific purpose to make themselves look taller or make them appeal all bad ass. I'm sure sometimes they use such shoes for hiking, working, and labor like I do, but it really depends on the person.
