Ok soompiers so I have this prom dilema.
My prom is June 16 so next friday and today is Monday June 5 and I dont have a date. So the group of friends I'm going with all have dates and they want me to get one or else it will suck and if I go alone I will have to pay for my imaginary date's space.
So my friend got me this girl. I don't know anything about her and I just saw her pics and heard she is really really nice and outgoing. She is pretty cute and really pretty compared to the girls at my school. BUT the catch is she will go with me IF I pay for all of her stuff.
Limo = $80
Corsage = $25
Ticket = $50
Dinner = $30
so her total of about $180. And with my own stuff the total will be over $300. AND I have only $150 dollars right now so I will have to borrow money from mom and dad.
The problem is that I hate paying for girls that I don't know. My thinking is why give someone $180 just to go with me? But I really do want to go with my friends and they won't let me go with them if I don't have a date. So the question is TO GO with the Girl and use so much $$$$ or not to go to prom with my friends?

freshman year i went to 2 proms. the guys paid for everything, thats just how it rolls. but in YOUR case, u barely know the girl, you're basically paying her to be your date, and you're getting WHIPPED...if u pay for her, u better make sure she hangs out with YOU, and YOU get to know HER real well, or else, in the end u'll regret it. but if u dont go with ur friends, i think you'll also regret it, like 100% the chance of u regretting going with her after paying for everything is less than 100%

haha i was in your situation too.. except im a girl.. i think it's lame how 1 person should pay for all expenses regardless of what gender you are.
Find a girl friend instead who doesn't have a date yet. or you may be asking this since you can't find a friend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) nevermind. Ehhh.. I don't know.. try to find a really really nice girl friend who is willing to split the cost.. or some how negotiate the price.

i think you should talk to ur date about it.... it is traditional that guys pay for prom... when i went, my date paid for almost everything except for the pictures...
the second time i went to prom which was with a just friend, i paid for half and he paid for half... i guess it's because we were from the same school...
either way, both proms were really fun, lots of memories... i'd say u should go because this might be ur only chance.... but it's really up to u if u're really that finanically tight...

If you don't even know the girl, just pay for her ticket and corsage. Since you two don't even know each other, wouldn't it be more on the friendly base? She should be grateful that you're even taking her though.
But, you should talk to her about it. See what makes her and you happy.
