Question:
Well two things;
I'm looking into future careers right now and I pretty much want to be a brain surgeon. And when i told my guy friends that they sort of was like O.O..ermmm and they consider it a men's job which i know is sort of untrue but i jsut heard guys feel uncomfortable dating girls who make more money then they do or have more status.
Secondly, is a turn off to have a girlfriend who had political debates with you? I'm sort of the type who likes talking about global warming, philosiphy over gossips about moviestars and i don't know if guys find that a turn off. Most (not all) korean guys i know, find it really annoying to have a girlfriend debate. They want a girl to be quiet and gentle and just be a sweet girl. And i'm more of a straightforward girl. Answer:
I'd date a girl with more status. Hell, that means I do less work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)
Well, not really, but still...
mmm...debates. I like those things. I like the straightforward types. That's a turn-on for me.
Answer:
Of course everyone has thier own opinions on what they find attractive/unattractive. A lotta guys actually enjoy having intelligent conversations with a girl. And like Tetra said, more money from the girl = more money for me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) . *ahem* I mean, us. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/phew.gif)
Answer:
hahaha I have that exact same problem. When I go off talking about international issues, most guys just look at me with a blank stare. Bleh. Some Asian guys really aren't into the whole talkative girlfriend thing, so I think that's why I usually end up dating non-Asian guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
Answer:
The first one.. that guy sounds like a sexist.. Since when was being a brain surgeon defined as being just a man's job.. lmao. If a guy feels unfomfortable with a girl making more money than him? He's just got a big ego, and his mentality is feeble. If a guy is dating a girl, and she makes more money than him? He should be encouraging towards her, because if things were the other way around? The guy would want his girl to be supportive of him.
Second thing.. having a debate in general is fun in my opinion. I love talking about philosophy, human behavior, and some politics. Wow.. I wonder is this thread based on your encounter with Korean guys or guys in general? Geez.. what a great time to be a Korean guy.. they have so much of a fan base these days.. From reading this post.. I wonder.. are you only into Korean guys or just Asian guys in general or are do you have interest in other ethnicities?
Answer:
If being political and wanting a good career generally considered a great turn-off for guys, would you stop vocalizing your opinions as well as wanting to change your desired profession?
If no, then who cares it they are or not? If these BOYS cannot accept a woman who is financially capable and intelligent, then I don't think you should give them a second thought.
Perhaps you should join mock trial or some sort of debate club if you wish to meet a guy with the same interests as yours.
And don't worry about the first part--when you become a brain surgeon and making bank, guys will be lining up for you.
Answer:
Wow, I'm in the same situation as you. I've wanted to be a surgeon since I was in 3rd grade, but I recently narrowed it down to neurology only last year. My friends were like -____- at me wanting to become a doctor, and now they're like O___O when I say I want to be a brain surgeon. Especially my guy friends, but they've never said it's a man's job. If they did, I probably would've slapped them. You should keep your ambition up and don't let your sexist friend bring it down. :] And about your dating ordeal, you'll find someone who won't let status get in the way. Honestly, who cares? Obviously they're insecure.
I too like to have 'political' debates with my friends! LOL, they are actually very intense and fact-based, not just a bunch of bull. I think guys should appreciate there are some strong-willed girls in this world, not just girls who blow off school for shopping sprees, putting on tons of makeup, and out getting drunk every other day.
Just my two cents, from a girl's perspective. Not all girls are like that, I wish some of my friends could understand that.
Answer:
i know a guy who started talking about global warming out of the blue with me (a girl) and is into physics aswell
and he would appreciate you wanting to become a brain surgeon
when he asked me what i wanted to do for college and i said business, he was like, f.uck business, do something for humanity.
haha.
and he's into politics i guess. you can tell by the music he listens to.
catch is... he's not korean. he's mostly of european descent and sexy as hell.
edit: well, i mentioned he wasn't korean because i'm assuming you want a korean guy.
Answer:
^ I'll take him! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
I'm sick of guys asking me what OPEC stands for.
Answer:
i'm a girl, so i wouldnt know, but i dont think it's a turnoff at all i might want to be a brain surgeon too! and no, it's def. not just a man's job
Answer:
do whatever you want. screw girls.
Answer:
No way. If a guy think that's a turn off, it's just because you'll make him look like a loser. You should be going for better guys if they dont think that's hot. You should stick to what you want to do. Don't like guys ruin that.

Everyone wants to be a lawyer or a brain surgeon sometime during their life (except teenieboppers).
Well first of all I assume that you've done enough research exploring your ideal career path of becoming a brain surgeon and that you will become one. If you're a brain surgeon, let alone a medical doctor, you're pretty much up there in the social hierarchy. Not many people are on top of you. The fact that you are getting more respect socially than your b/f (and no It's not only a korean guy thing but most guys) can make him feel vulnerable.
Personally I don't mind if she was richer or smarter...it really depends on what kind of attitude she brings in with her baggage.
And girls who know how to debate are hot!!=) she just needs to know when to shut up tho.
Answer:
i'm oppoisite of that, i'll hella date a girl who's got better status than me
(if she's up to it of course (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
Answer:
you are my favorite type of girl =) miss independentish. don't let stupid guys hinder you.
Answer:
if the males you date have a problem with you making more money...
date someone who makes even more money than you
hahah
and the debating thing, i dont think it matters, its just different for certain people
Answer:
no. it's definately better if you're educated&like dealing w/bigger issues and not only being some image obsessed bimbo that the media tries to portray as sexy.

hmmm ionno i once had this career driven teacher i think she was like 37 and still single. she was really intelligent, had lots of good convos with her, she drove a beamer, she made major dough teaching at a university and all that but girls like her just.... turn out different. they're all about buisness and don't ever waste time a.k.a not being fun but this is just my opinion
i mean in the end if you wanna have children one or the other usually ends up staying home and taking care of children and being the one who makes more could u stand having a freeloading husband?
Answer:
Who cares about wut guys think?
