That's retarded. That kinda thing HAS to be fixed sometime. If he can only tell you how he feels sometimes--that he's sorry for being a certain kind of person which actually has nothing to do with how he feels about you or if he can look beyond what he's lacking and can openly care about you-- and when he's drunk, that relationship might only work if he turned alcoholic.
That's just annoying and I wouldn't put up with it. You can trick yourself and think he cares for you deep down inside but doesn't he have a lot to prove before you feel that way?
