This guy i knew, i never thought of him as a friend or anything, just a classmate or acquaintance. He'd always talk to me about his problems, and I would listen and give feedback. He also had a crush on my friend.
One day he took my yearbook (on our graduation), and wrote this long ass message, saying the best thing that came from having a crush on your friend was meeting you, how much he appreciated me listening to him, how I gave him confidence and helped him make new friends etc.
I never knew he appreciated any of it, so I was surprised.
Those were nice words, and it made me cry.
I still remember it 'til this day.
