why does it take forever to execute someone?

Question:
why does it take forever for the government to execute someone? i mean you are sentenced to death and then dah dah dah twenty five years later you are dead.
it should be like the days of like Christ where immediately after you are sentenced they would execute you. Like in the move Passion of the Christ he was in court, they read his sentenced and then he was immediately executed.
but how come it takes twenty years to finally execute someone?
Answer:
time for appeals.

Answer:
gotta wait in line
immediately executing someone and then finding out they didn't do it would be pretty bad too..25 or so years gives enough time for more investigation if it'd needed
Answer:
It depends on where you are. In America, the law is better release a guilty man than convict an innocent one. Thereby having a bunch of laws that not only prevent that last fact, but allow defense lawyers to argue their way through seemingly hopeless cases.
It's really hard to provide concrete evidence against someone, even if they are definitely guilty, so therefore it takes a long time to convict, and someones serial killers walk free. But sometimes a innocent person go free too, so that's the upside.
One of the bad things about this system is that tax money goes to feed these people while they are in jail, waiting for a verdict.

Yeah, one of my concerns as well. But I know for sure the reason it takes so long to execute someone is due to appeals. Umm, I'm not sure if the system we are going now is a good one, but I would rather the guilty living then having an innocent person killed by a government. Laws are supposed to protect people by killing guilty or punish guilty people, not kill innocent people.
