A driver racing another motorist in South Los Angeles lost control of his car and ran into a medical clinic, injuring 13 people, including two children, authorities said today.
The racer crashed into a medical facility, injuring quite a number of people, said Earl Paysinger, Deputy Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The conditions of the injured could not immediately be determined..
Deputies observed two cars moving at a high rate of speed, driving very erratically, Paysinger said. The crash occurred, he said, when both vehicle attempted to pass each other in an open lane.
The car crashed into a clinic on the corner of 83rd and Vermont. The car came to rest completely within the building, authorities said.
The interview with Paysinger was telecast on ABC Channel 7 television.
