Winfrey cried over relative's 'betrayal'
CHICAGO - Oprah Winfrey says in the February issue of her magazine that she cried for three days when a relative told the National Enquirer that Winfrey became pregnant at 14 and lost the baby after birth.
Winfrey already had confirmed the Enquirer's 1990 report that she got pregnant as a teenager, telling Parade magazine later that year that the baby was born prematurely and died shortly after birth. Her half-sister, Patricia Lloyd, sold the story to the tabloid, according to news reports at the time.
Winfrey, who did not name Lloyd in her column, wrote in O, The Oprah Magazine that the relative sat in a room, told them the story of my hidden shame and left their offices $19,000 richer.
I felt devastated. Wounded. Betrayed. How could this person do this to me? she wrote.
Winfrey now says she learned something from what she calls that first betrayal. Having the secret out was liberating and it allowed her to begin to heal from the sexual abuse she said she experienced as a girl.
She says she hasn't let more recent betrayals in her life bother her as much, although they still feel like a kick in the gut.

Are you saying she was raped as in you know for a fact she did or are you assuming that she was raped because she said the words sexual abuse? I don't know, I'm thinking she might have consented to the sex but trusted the boyfriend [or sex partner or whatever] to use protection and then kind of overdid it and said sexual abuse... Sorry, I get kind of skeptical unless it's fully laid out.

Okay I read a brief bio on Oprah [see how obsessive compulsive I am? -__-] and she was raped when she was 9 years old by her cousin but she became pregnant because she had a crazy lifestyle in her early teens [pregnant at 14].
Anyway that half sister of hers will go to hell.

Not sure, but I think she said that her uncle sexually abused her and yet her father did not believe her when she went and told her father about the incidents. Thus, till today she still has some resentment toward her father. I think she said that on one of her shows. Not sure so don't quote me on that.

its just crazy how someone who went through such setbacks can bounce back, and become so successful. inspirational, if you ask me. and not just in terms of wealth, i think oprah has alot of heart.

i dont like oprah. everyone thinks she's so fcuking great for giving her audiences free stuff, but she does absolutely nothing to help the ppl in real need. the people in her audiences are at least middle class housewives - predominantly white, who can afford to spend time at her show, while there are ppl working around the clock to barely survive with several kids who NEED a car.
honest to god, she isnt the only one who was fcuking sexually abused. jesus fcuking christ.

that woman does alot for REAL people. everyone who was in her audience that day was someone who needed a car. she didnt just give them out to people. they all wrote in with stories, and were hand picked to get a free car. normal people who couldnt afford to get a new car. perhaps you should look into things before you talk bad about someone who is indeed, GREAT and helps alot more people who need help, then you think.
