Woman Sat on Couch for SIX Years

Question:

Actually, I came across this a few weeks ago, I believe. I just thought it would be a good example to persuade people to lose weight (no offense here).
If you're too lazy to read, here's a short summary:
Gayle Grinds sat on her couch for six years because she was so obese that she was unable to get up, stand, walk around, etc. after a leg injury. One day, someone dialed 911 because she was having difficulty breathing. Firemen arrived to take her to the hospital but were unsuccessful in lifting her from the couch. She passed away on the couch before she had a chance to go to the hospital.
She did have relatives who cared for her. The tragic part is, her husband, who lived by her this ENTIRE time, never bothered to call the hospital despite her condition. I mean, seriously, your wife sits on a couch for YEARS, you don't even notice, you bring her more food but never bother to even clean off where she lives, and then your neighbor has to call the hospital not because she was literally stuck to the couch (her skin had grown into it) but because she's having breathing problems. What the f..? I feel sad for her...
Answer:
The husband is seriously demented.
Answer:
omg...stucked to the couch.
Answer:
this reminds me of the case where this another obese lady was glued to the sofa. there was a fire and they couldn't get her out or somethin like that. i think
Answer:
her skin had grown into it?!?!?!??!!?!?!?! ah!! ew!!! O TTOTT
man.... was her husband trying to kill her slowly or something?.. O.o.
Answer:

Answer:
Am I the only one who thinks she deserve what she's got?? I don't care if I offend people with what I'm about to say, but I think she deserve it. This is what happen when YOU are LAZY. If you noticed you've put on a few pound and have trouble moving around then get your ass up and exercise, don't wait SIX WHOLE YEARS sitting on a couch and die.
I have absolutely no pity for her, or any one who does not take care of his/her own health and body.

Answer:
the husband isnt to be blamed. this is a grown woman and she should have had the common sense to know how to take care of herself.
Answer:
Doesn't she need to go to the bathroom? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
Answer:
i remember reading a news from my local newspaper too, there was also a guy who had problems with walking because he was too fat to even move. he lied on his bed all the time and he needed assistance...the government helped him by paying him some amount of money because he could no longer work..errk..anyway...he used to be thin (I saw a picture of him too)....
sorry don't remember the article's name so can't repost it, but yeah, it's true...it's very sad to be obese and (hope not to offend anyway)...I do feel pity for them.
Answer:
hmmmm...wow
Answer:

Answer:

Answer:

Answer:

The husband is seriously demented.
Agreed. Any sane man would have dumped that b**** years ago.
Answer:
how did she shower? crap? pee?
Answer:
Similar to NIP/TUCK tv show, this season, 1st episode. Showing how the skin that joined w/ the chair looked like etc. .
I guess the show is based on that article. Sad story.
Answer:
wow.. thats really extreme~
Answer:
Would it be that hard for her to pick up the phone and call the hospital herself?
Answer:
this is like that obese guy on jerry springer years ago...they had to break down the house to bring him to the hospital cuz he couldn't fit through the door..and it took about 8 guys to roll him out of his bed and the whole time he was crying, feelin sorry for himself. i feel bad for them but yet again i see obese people eating a whole tube of icecream by themselves...food can become a serious addiction...just like fat bastard said i'm depressed so i eat and then i become depressed because i'm fat so i eat more, it's a viscious cycle. its so true, sigh.
