i'm completely lost on what you're saying. if you're talking about the speedometer (thing that tells you how fast you're going) it should be at zero when you start your car because your car shouldnt be moving when you start it up. but if you're talking about the tachometer it doesnt make sense either because if it goes down to zero that means your engine is no longer running, so it cant warm up.

It's just the RPM gauge. tempuraicecream is probably just describing the problem inconsistently and we're all probably still just talking about fast idling here. Some people might describe things a bit inaccurately like saying the rpm drops close to zero simply cuz 250-500 rpm is below the 1 mark afterall. We all have to keep in mind not everyone's a car nut or can identify all the instrument gauges by proper name.
