Windsheild Replacement

Question:
I was driving down the freeway the other day and a rock hits my windshield and leaves a mark. It's about the size of a dime, possibly a nickel.
My friend mentioned that there's a process (that uses heat?) they can go through to fix it if the damage is less than the size of a quarter. Unfortunately, her brother lost the business card and doesn't know the name of the process.
1. Is it possble to get it fixed without having to replace the whole windshield (it was a nightmare last time)
2. What's it called?
3. How much?
4. How long does it take?
Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Answer:
u can call almost any windshield repair place and ask
im pretty sure u can explain it to them and they would know
i dunno about heat but for me they smoothed the edges and filled in the chip so that it wouldn't start to crack and spread
cost me 50$ and if it starts the crack then the 50$ goes towards a new windshield
it took about 20 minutes? i dont remember cuz it was early in the morning and i fell asleep in the car waiting
