A Big V8 producing 420HP is sweet. But the price tag will be close to $80k dollars for one. It's got that much HP and TQ and it's AWD but does 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds. Not saying that's slow by any means, but with that much HP and TQ, I'd think it would do a little bit faster than a bone stock E46 M3, but it's actually the same.

I like the RS4, its a very nice sedan, 420hp, 317tq, redline at 8200RPM... its pretty heavy but I mean you get a lot of features with it, 4 doors and seats 5 people somewhat comfortably.

Yea forreals. If you want a full size AWD Sedan or Wagon with alot of beef, this car is it. It's got all that plus the luxuries. Fast too. But again... it's very heavy like most Audi's.
The B5 S4 was no doubt the car that had the most potential. I know some sickly fast fixed up ones in my area.

who cares. The thread is about the rs4 so i thought i would post up the Top Gear video that someone posted in the past (which mentions the M3 at the end).
i dont know much about either cars so I am not here to say which car is better or comparing it to another car that isnt even released yet.

According to Car and Driver, it's estimated 1/4 mile time is the same as the current M3.
About 100 hp more and about the same in acceleration, not to mention it's high price tag. man.

It's true the Audi RS4 is quicker than the E46 M3, but the Audi is not only much more expensive and alot newer, but it's also got a MUCH bigger 4.2L V8 motor than the rather small 3.2L Inline-6 the E46 M3 has. RS4's got alot more HP and TQ, yet it still does the same 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds even with its AWD launch advantage. And there are many sources that states the E46 M3 doing it in 4.7 seconds.
Also, another intruiging fact is that Car & Driver estimated the Audi RS4 to do the 1/4 mile in 13.3 seconds but when they received one to test, it did 13.5 seconds at 105mph. The E46 M3 does the 1/4 mile in 13.2 seconds at 106mph. Some have even got 12.8 out of a BONE stock M3 with videos and slips to back them up on M3 forums. The Audi may have the power advantage, but the M3 has two BIG advantages over the RS4 and it is Weight (RS4 is over 300lbs heavier than the M3) and Gearing. That is probably why the E46 M3 and RS4 are very similar in 0-60mph and 1/4 mile times despite the Audi's Power Advantage. Also, the E46 M3 takes it in the Power to Weight Ratio category. RS4 is at 8.9HP per pound while the M3 is at 10.2HP per pound.
However, anything above 100mph, the RS4 will start to pull on the M3 because of the HP and TQ advantage and even though it hurts my ///M pride, it's the truth. But with 4 doors, an $80k price tag and a big V8... I think a better comparison would be with the ///M5 but then again, it will burn the RS4 silly.
Hopefully the new E90 M3 with its V8 and 400HP+ will show Audi once again that ///M is always than Audi and this has ALWAYS been true.
