I am going to be getting cable(upgrade from DSL) internet within the month and I am a gamer. I want to know what I should I look for in a good connection. For example, 4MB--->Download, 512KB--->Upload. Or 6MB--->Download
or 384KB--->Upload. That is all I need to know... thanks.

i think download is more important, but without a good upload, ur connection will be limited. 256k upload is recommended apparently.

Correction that is if you have both modem....Like i said go with cable simple as that...

dunno how the US system is for cable, here the ISP put a cap on the upload speed at 128k. download is good though.

Cable is definitely faster for downloading/uploading etc. However, due to how cable works, its always shared within a node so more often than not it'll have lag spikes during peak hours. DSL has is generally slower but more stable and has less latency because it isn't shared.
IMO, I like DSL b/c I play games in euro/asian servers but I'm sure cable is fine if you played with hosts located in US/Can.

the new adsl2+ lines are faster than cable here. shame that the isps haven't gotten it ready in all suburbs
