Burnished suede boots from J. Crew

Question:
Hey, I was wondering what everyone thinks of these boots from J. Crew.
I am also open to suggestions in this price range, as these are not a need but more of a "it would be nice to have some boots for winter so I don't mess up my nice shoes."

I am going to be turning 21 in the fall and I am looking for some casual boots to use during the coming winters. I work in an office and go to a community college. I am in Georgia, so the climate is fairly temperate but I consider our winters to be too cold. My normal lineup of shoes is fairly dressy. I have a nice pair of cap-toes and I am looking at getting some AE's from forum member distinctive footwear on ebay in the coming months (possibly 2-3 pairs). Hopefully by December I will have a nice rotation going and have enough shoes to last me for quite some time. Altogether I'd have about 4 brown lace ups and possibly 2 black lace ups, along with some black ankle boots I already have. However, quality is my main concern. I'd rather spend more and have them last a lifetime than spend less and have shitty shoes that need replacing.
Answer:
For winter beaters, these don't seem very durable with that crepe sole. That said, you're in Georgia, so I don't think snow will be an issue. I personally like these shoes quite a bit, more than Clarks desert boots, though J. Crew released them in leather for Fall, I'd take a look at those as well.
Also, "unlined for a casual feel" sounds a lot like "will not keep your feet warm in winter".

then back away from JCrew.com

Yeah, on second thought, these'll get you through a life:

I've always found JCrew to be somewhat aesthitcally satisfactory, but the fit always seems to be very bad. JMO.

They look like a pare of orthopedic shoes left from your younger brother who drown at the age of 13.
Answer:
Personally, I much prefer Clarks desert boots. The "burnished" ones just look like worn out boots that need a suede brush taken to them.
The non-distressed ones are OK, but I couldn't see paying over 40% more for them, as opposed to a classic pair of Clarks. JMO.
Answer:
J crew shoe styles are not that bad. I don't see too many "Bros" wearing them, if anything that's a good sign.
But for $128, thats not worth it. Maybe at 1/2 price it would be okay. Luckily they have lots of sales
Answer:
For the price I would say no, IMO there are better options out there. Like others have mentioned Clarks. I have a few pairs of mocs from Jcrew and they have held up well for the most part if thats any help. I would wait until they go on sale which they will I know I never paid full price for the mocs that I have.
Answer:
Thanks for the heads up guys. I'm going to look into the Clarks and definitely stray from these.
Answer:
"Bros"? Wow you've kept your streak of horrible posts intact. Congrats.
