Question:
Here's the cloth:
Should it be made "Flashy" sort of like this:
or more like the "Professor" look, like this:
Thanks to Steed tailors for the SB and M. Alden at the LL for the DB.
Answer:
that DB is kinda fly
Answer:
I'd love that color/pattern as a DB overcoat, but for a suit, I'd go with the second option.
Answer:
Get the DB. That way you won't look like you copied me if we're both wearing the cloth in the same place on the same day.
Answer:
Love the cloth (London Lounge 'Best of Both' no?) and would go with the db if I were in your position.
Answer:
Personally, I'd go w/ neither - or at least not exactly as pictured there.
The DB in that photo actually surprisingly good but in person and as a suit, I think it would be way too much. But YMMV.
There's something about that particular SB that I don't like either but really can't place my finger on it.
I think I'd like it best as a plain no bells and whistles SB.
Mine will be a lightweight topcoat. Or I'll add a partial quilted lining to make it more useful.
Answer:
Seeing the cloth made up as a DB made up my mind for a DB. I've placed orders for the Brisa and Coops2 as well, both of which will be DB.

Answer:
Were I to have that cloth made up, I would want it with a very soft shoulder and a simple, soft cut. Single breasted for sure.
Answer:
The Professor. In the pic, the DB looks nice but, like Cantabrigian, I suspect in real life it may be a bit too much.
Answer:
and what is with all of the ticket pockets? I think the cloth is busy enough already for them to be superfluous. The pocket flaps on the DB are enormous and they look way out of balance both in size and in height relative to eachother.
Answer:
I tend to agree - the fabric is so bold that a simple cut might flatter it best. 3/2 or 2 button notch lapel flap pocket jacket would be my (admittedly, slightly dull) choice.
Answer:
The cut is pretty poor IMO :plain: , but no worries, If I go DB it wouldn't look quite like that ;)
Keep those comments coming Gents, this is quite helpful.
Answer:
The fabric is rich. A SB 2 or 3/2 button coat (maybe similar to naturalat's

with matching trousers and if you have enough fabric, a high buttoning lapeled waistcoat would work great with that fabric.
Another alternate is to get a cape but they are a little difficult to pull off these days.

Answer:
with a plain cloth its all in the style. if the cloth is busy the style should not be busy.
Answer:
3-piece SB is the first choice. But a soft DB would be tempting indeed.
