You need about 2 metres (a bit over 2 yards) of double width (150cm = approx 59inches) cloth.
If this is vintage cloth then price and quality have little correlation. Vintage cloths can be fabulous and sell for the price of a song.

Pendleton sells remnents for about $5.00 -10 per yard from their outlet store. I make CPO type shirts from fabric that she picks up there.
Sadly there is only enough for a vest. It would make a nice odd vest.

Thanks for the feedback all. Branching out a bit, can anyone recommend a seller on ebay or say in NY where one could find some nice vintage tweed or other winter wool for a sportcoat?
