Gokey hiking boots...

Question:
Anyone tried these boots from Orvis?
Orvis Boots
Answer:
Mack,
Any advice on fit? Is the length "long" "short" or "accurate"?
and more importantly, the width, are they wide? narrow? middling?
I wear a 9 1/2 EEE in Allen Edmonds dress shoes. Should I order the 10 wide from Gokey?
Answer:
Tom, I own two pairs of custom Gokey boots. But I know that ready-made Gokeys fit true to size, which means that 10Wide should work out to roughly 10E. I suggest you call the company itself through Orvis (a toll-free call)--literally ask Orvis to get you in touch with Gokey for a consultation. By the way, Gokey was relocated some years ago to Missouri, but the guys running the outfit are the same. Ask for Stacy Doss; he knows what he's doing. You may be a candidate for a custom boot, but Stacy will tell you what's best for your feet. My cousin is an elite soldier. He told me that Stacy Doss took great care of him before he shipped out for the East, a couple years ago. (My own Gokey boots are now seventeen years old, and still going strong.) Good luck, Tom.
Regards,
Jack

You might consider similiar boots from Russell Moccasin, they have made to measure options.
