V Neck Sweater

Question:
Hey guys, I was just wondering what your opinion was on V Neck Sweaters. I saw a couple at Banana Republic, plus they are on sale with those coupons that somebody posted on here.
The outfit I was going for was a button up, tie, and a v neck with some slacks. Any other particular places I can look that don't break the bank?
Cheers,
Alex
Answer:
I love v-necks. They look better than crewnecks with a tie, IMO, and look much better with an open collar. J Crew has good deals on sweaters, particularly in the sales.
Answer:
agreed. v-necks look great with and without a tie. but they can look dippy without a dress shirt underneath ... they need a collar i think ...

Answer:
I wear them frequently in the cooler months with a v-neck tshirt underneath for a nice but casual look. I don't think I look too dippy :slayer:
Answer:
V-neck sweaters are more much chic and style-forward than crewnecks, which I hardly ever wear these days. They look great when you wear a dress shirt under them unbuttoned at the top so the collar is spread. It's always a fail-safe look.
Answer:
V-neck's can look fine with a t-shirt as long as the t-shirt is also a V-neck. I think the problem is when its a crew neck t-shirt under a v-neck sweater, because the v-neck draws attention to the open area like "hey look here!" and if you've just got some t-shirt there (which will look wrinkled compared to the thicker fabric v-neck on top of it) it just ends up being an eye-sore.
Answer:
sometimes i go for dippy. i draw the line at too dippy.
a v-neck tee and a v-neck sweater sounds like a good plan to me. it will help me to realize my new goal of showing chest hair as often as possible.
Answer:
I recently picked up two $20 v-necks at the Gap that were silk/cotton blends, I believe. They had merino wool versions for $50 or so that I'm sure were higher quality and would keep you warmer but neither of those were enough of a concern for me to spend $30 more per. If you want to go very cheap, that's a good place to look. J. Crew and BR is the other obvious one, but I would just get one from whichever has the most discount. They're likely to be of a similiar quality/cut anyhow.
